'Beyond the Call of Duty' pays tribute to heroism of Filipino uniformed forces

The red carpet rolled out Tuesday night for the premiere of “Beyond the Call of Duty”, a cinematic homage to the courage, sacrifice, and service of the country’s law enforcers and military personnel.Starring Martin del Rosario as PLT Ricky Mapa, Maxine Trinidad as PLT Ana Jacob, and Paolo Gumabao as F/INSP Daniel Bartolome, the film dives deep into the lives of the brave men and women who go beyond their sworn duties to protect and serve the nation.The action-packed drama also features Devon Seron as PMSg Chloe San Diego, Jeffrey Santos as the notorious Victor “Bungo” Salazar, Mark Neumann as Carlo Salazar, and Martin Escudero as PMaj Eric Benitez. Rounding out the ensemble cast are Simon Ibarra, Migs Almendras, Bella Thompson, Tyke Sanchez, Dindo Arroyo, Alex Medina, Rob Sy, and Lance Lucido.Produced with the support of various law enforcement units, Beyond the Call of Duty tells gripping stories of heroism, camaraderie, and justice—bringing to light the everyday battles and emotional toll faced by uniformed personnel.Star Magic artist Maxine Trinidad, who plays a lead role as Police Lieutenant Ana Jacob, said the role holds deep personal meaning. “I’m so blessed to have this leading role. Playing the role of Police Lieutenant Jacob is actually a dream come true. Before entering Pinoy Big Brother, I passed the cadetship exam, but I didn’t proceed because I wanted to portray a cadet one day onscreen. And ito na nga, tinupad ni Lord ang role na papaigitingin ang integridad ng kapulisan” Trinidad shared. Gracing the premiere night was former chief of the Philippine National Police Rommel Francisco Marbil, who praised the film for showing the oft-overlooked side of police work. “Actually, I’m so happy kasi ang madalas na napapansin ay yung negative side ng pulis. But tonight, we get to show the positive side—kung paano nagsasakripisyo ang ating mga kapulisan para mapanatili ang peace and order,” said Marbil. He added, “At least high morale sila na tumaas naman yung integridad ng mga tao natin. Yung public no? Yung kung ano yung pag hihirap ng mga pulis. You only see mga bad side ng police pero hindi niyo nakikita yung whole side na pinag hihirapan ng mga pulis to make sure na mas maayos pa yung bansa natin”Beyond the Call of Duty opens in cinemas nationwide starting June 4.
