Darren Espanto on reception of PBB Celebrity Collab’s eviction song: ‘I’m glad that it turned out to be the way that it is now’

<p>The historic <em>Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition</em> came to a close, but who could forget about the song “Paalam Muna Sandali?” </p><p>The song gave comfort to both the housemates and the viewers during every painful eviction night that passed in this edition.  </p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1751764737233Thumb (77).jpg" style="width:600px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><p>Darren Espanto, the man behind the eviction song, couldn’t help but be proud of the warm reception it received from the reality show’s viewers. </p><p>“I’m glad that it turned out to be the way that it is now, with reception of all the viewers of PBB,” Darren said during the launch of his new album, <em>Ikaw Pa Rin</em>, on Friday, July 4. </p><div><iframe class="instagram-media instagram-media-rendered" id="instagram-embed-0" src="https://www.instagram.com/p/DLuVDQlJbYs/embed/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=768&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fod2-workbench-web.abs-cbn.com&amp;rp=%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A3618774.600000024%7D" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="822" data-instgrm-payload-id="instagram-media-payload-0" scrolling="no" style="background:white;max-width:540px;width:calc(100% - 2px);border-radius:3px;border:1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219);box-shadow:none;display:block;margin:0px 0px 12px;min-width:326px;padding:0px"></iframe></div><script async="" src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js"></script><p>“Paalam Muna Sandali,” one of the 13 tracks under Darren’s new album, came to life unexpectedly.  </p><p>“It was such an unexpected addition to the album, but it turned out so beautifully,” he said.</p><p>Darren recalled how they rushed the recording of the eviction song, saying he headed straight from the airport after a Paris trip just to make it.  </p><p>The singer-turned-host said he initially suggested the management to find another artist who could interpret the song, but it turned out to be destined for him.  </p><p>“Sinabi ko po na ‘Sir Jon [Jonathan Manalo] baka hindi po talaga umabot, pwedeng ibang artist nalang &#x27;yung pakantahin niyo?&#x27; But he really waited for me, which I’m so grateful for. Talagang hinintay niya akong makalapag,&quot; he shared.</p><p>&quot;Kahit dumiretso ako galing NAIA [Ninoy Aquino International Airport], it was all worth it,” he added.  </p><p>In an exclusive interview with <strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong> last May, Darren detailed the recording process for the eviction song. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/movies-series/2025/5/2/exclusive-darren-espanto-reveals-how-pbb-celebrity-collab-edition-s-eviction-song-was-recorded-1420"><strong><u>READ: EXCLUSIVE: Darren Espanto reveals how PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition’s eviction song was recorded</u></strong></a></div><p>“Si Sir Jonathan Manalo called me up while I was in Paris. And he said, ‘D, kailangan na natin ma-record yung eviction song kasi this week na pala sila mag-e-evict.’ Sabi ko, ‘Hala, Sir Jon, nasa Paris pa po ako.’ (Sabi niya) ‘O, kailan yung lapag mo? Kaya ba natin i-record pagkalapag mo?’&quot; he recalled. </p><p>“I got off the plane at 11 p.m. I went to the recording studio at 12 a.m. And the rest is history. It&#x27;s out now for everyone to listen to. And it&#x27;s honestly one of the best songs, I&#x27;d say, na originals ko po na nagawa ko so far,” he added. </p><p>PBB hailed the BreKa duo, composed of Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca, as the newest big winners. Ralph de Leon and Will Ashley, or RaWi clinched the second spot, while Charlie Fleming and Esnyr Ranollo, or CharEs, and AZ Martinez and River Joseph, or AZVer, settled at third and fourth places, respectively.  </p>
