'Colony' from 'Train to Busan' director hits PH cinemas on May 27

Handout photo</div>&quot;Colony,&quot; the new zombie horror film from the director of the hit &quot;Train to Busan,&quot; is set to screen in the Philippines later this month.Director Yeon Sang-ho&#x27;s latest offering, rated R-13 and &quot;approved without cuts,&quot; will premiere in local cinemas on May 27, according to a press release.The film follows a group of people trapped inside a building during an infectious outbreak, as they struggle to survive while confronting the infected that continue to evolve.It also features a star-studded cast that includes Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rok, Shin Hyun-been and Go Soo.The film had its world premiere earlier this month in the Midnight Screenings section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.According to a Korea Times <a href="https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/amp/entertainment/films/20260520/yeon-sang-ho-challenges-ai-era-with-zombie-film-colony">report</a>, Yeon developed the concept of the film&#x27;s infected — who evolve to move like a single intelligent entity — after observing the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).&quot;The starting point of this film was my interest in how AI works. AI felt like the total sum of very common and generalized human thinking,&quot; he was quoted as saying in the Korea Times article.&quot;Colony&quot; marks Yeon&#x27;s latest zombie horror feature, with his best-known work arguably being &quot;Train to Busan&quot; in 2016, which depicts a dramatic zombie outbreak aboard a train traveling from Seoul to Busan.&quot;Train to Busan&quot; even spawned an animated prequel &quot;Seoul Station&quot; and a live-action sequel &quot;Peninsula.&quot;Outside the zombie horror genre and film, Yeon has also worked on several series, mostly in the horror, science fiction, and thriller genres, including &quot;Hellbound,&quot; &quot;The Bequeathed,&quot; and &quot;Parasyte: The Grey.&quot;<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/2024/3/31/how-parasyte-the-grey-is-different-from-original-japanese-manga-1337">READ: How ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ is different from original Japanese manga </a></div>He also wrote the Japanese-Korean series &quot;Human Vapor,&quot; which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 2.
