‘You’re Still The One’ singer Shania Twain to share her journey in new biopic

<p>The journey of Canadian award-winning singer-songwriter Shania Twain is set to be immortalized on screen as a biopic about her life and career is now on the works. </p><p>Singer and filmmaker Leah McKendrick will write and direct the biopic titled <em>Shania</em>, chronicling the life of the global country-pop superstar. The project is among her newest collaborations with Sony Pictures. </p><p>On her Instagram, Leah reflected on how grateful she is to have landed the opportunity to work with Shania on this big project, calling it a “dream come true”.  </p><p>“Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom. This wild-hearted force of a woman means so much to me - and the world. It is a surreal dream come true to get to bring her trailblazing, gut-punching, awe-inspiring story to the screen (and ride horses and eat pasta in the process!),” she wrote. </p><p>“I am honored. I am humbled. I am READY. Meanwhile, the project also adds to Sony Pictures’ growing slate of music-centered biographical films. The studio previously released <em>Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody</em> in 2022 and is also behind<em> The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,</em> which is scheduled for release in 2027. </p><p>Over the course of her career, Shania has become one of the most influential figures in modern country music. Today’s biggest stars, like Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, have also shared how Shania became one of their inspirations in their musical careers.  </p><p>With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, she remains the biggest-selling female artist in the history of country music. She also holds three Diamond-certified albums recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for <em>Come on Over</em>, <em>Up!,</em> and <em>The Woman in Me</em>. </p><p>As anticipation builds for the biopic, Shania is also preparing to release her seventh studio album, <em>Little Miss Twain</em>, this July.  </p>
