MANILA — OPM singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre is back in the music scene with a new album entitled “I’m Okay”. During the listening party, Moira shared with ABS-CBN News that the album was two years in the making.What took her so long to finish the music project? Moira said: “It needed its own time. A lot of things - good things, growth takes time. Proper growth takes time. You cannot rush certain things.”She added, “As much as I tried to rush this album, I couldn’t release something that wasn’t real for me. I needed to grow with it, it needed to be true for me.”Elaborating on “true”, Moira expounded that she allowed herself to go thru all the emotions that she needed to face after her highly-publicized break up with her ex-husband. Moira revealed that in the process of writing the songs for the album, she was able to come up with 60 songs.Out of the 60 songs, only 12 made it to the album.  “I allowed myself to be angry, to go through the pain, but also I didn’t want a ‘rant’ album. There were things that I took out, there are things that I can share, but there are things that I don’t have to.”“This is the growing up album. This is the moving forward album.”So what will happen to the 48 unreleased songs?“Maybe they’ll come out in another season, or for another artist. I don’t know, or maybe not at all. This album is a reminiscent of the lessons I’ve learned, and the season that was.”As this album reflects who Moira is now today, some listeners may find some of her lyrics to be describing or depicting her to be insecure, petty and bitter.“Sabi ko, ipapalabas ko ba ito? But that’s the real one. I feel all those things. I don’t want to look perfect, like hindi ako nagkamali. Ang dami kong mali.” <div>LESSONS LEARNED</div>Two years ago, Moira was in the headlines after a highly publicized break-up with her ex-husband Jason Marvin. It took a while before Moira was able to talk about the heartbreaking journey in her life. Admittedly, she said it took a long time for her to finally put into music and lyrics this new phase of her life.She wrote and wrote songs. Went back and forth with her sound engineer and producers, changing lines and lyrics from her songs, making sure what she wants to put out there is what she really feels. And she didn’t want a &quot;rant&quot; album, full of hate and anger. But she wanted a growth album - a reflection of learnings, lessons and love.“I’m ready to love better,” Moira said on her interview with ABS-CBN News.  “I know that in the past there were a lot of growing up that we all had to do. And, there were so many things that were lost in translation.”“There were many things that nobody knew how to do better. And I don’t want anybody getting the full blame for anything because there were two people in a relationship. It takes people to make it work and I’m half to blame for something that didn’t work out. So, if anything in this moving forward phase I think I’m ready to learn better.”She also quoted and important lesson she recently learned from a friend, “that it’s actually easier to learn things and harder to unlearn things.”Now that she has truly moved on, is she ready to find love again? “And I think I’m ready to explore this new season with a better mind, a calmer heart. I am open to whatever God will allow me in this season.”“For now, I am ready to love people around me better to allow them to speak into my life better. I don’t want to ask for more. I just want to be good and faithful with what He’s giving me.”“I’m Okay” is Moira’s favorite among the 12 tracks in the album. Other songs in the album include “Where It All Started”, “Under the Bathroom Sink”, “Bandaid”, “Red flags”, “Umpisa”, “Ghosts”, “San Ka Na”, “Delusional”, “Gaslighter”, “Wonder” and “Dinggin”.During the listening party, Moira’s celebrity friends graced and joined her like John Prats and wife Isabel Oli, Julia Barretto, Paolo Benjamin of Ben&amp;Ben, Arthur Nery and more.“I’m Okay” is out now and available for streaming on all digital platforms.
