When “Desire” would come on the turntable, everyone would sing that “Sugar” part of the chorus where Aston would sing, “What you get is what you see.”That’s a period of five albums from 1983-1990 -- &quot;Promise&quot; in 1983, &quot;Immigrant&quot; released in 1985, &quot;Discover&quot; that was out the following year, &quot;House of Dolls&quot; that came out in 1987, and &quot;Kiss of Life&quot; that ended that chart run of hits in 1990. That’s a remarkable run reserved for the likes of New Wave bands Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Blondie, the Cure, the Police, Spandau Ballet, Depeche Mode, and some others who had a sustained run of chart and pop culture success. Incredibly, Gene Loves Jezebel’s albums were not released locally. Instead local music fans and DJs had to purchase their copies abroad making their records – pun not intended – desirable.Although Aston has previously come over to Manila to perform, this will be the first time where he is a part of a larger group of New Wave artists who saw success back in the day. The Cruel World Festival held at the Rose Bowl in California has been well attended in the last several years as they have featured prominent and cult artists from the decade of the &#x27;80s.New Wave Tribe from DMC Philippines along with sponsors Midas Hotel, Citimotors, 1 World Deli, and 2Go, hopes to give local fans a similar event although smaller in scale.Tickets to the New Wave Tribe Festival are available from SM Tickets.
