MAKATI CITY — With the holiday season fast approaching, the cast of &quot;A Christmas Carol: The Musical&quot; shared their thoughts on the production and how its themes resonate with their lives. Arnel Carrion, who plays the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge, reflected on the story’s supernatural elements. When asked which ghost he would choose to be visited by, he said, “Probably for me, the ghost of Christmas future. I like to have an idea of what it’s like to be in my life in a few months or years from now. But of course, everything is based on you, ‘di ba? Without spoiling anything, I think Jacob Marley is someone who… after everything he went through, he would like to help people, especially his friends, his loved ones, and of course in this case, his best friend to not make the same mistakes he did, and hopefully learn and change his ways,” he said. “So in many ways, I think I’m similar, I think with all of the experience that I have now, especially now sitting with all the people now, whatever learnings I’d have, I would always want to share it with them.” Molly Langley, who plays Emily, the young Scrooge’s former love, shared how she connects with her role. “I think I really resonate with Emily, more of… I guess she is a person who just really is looking for the simplest things, and that’s enough for her. And I think I’m close to that as well. I really do appreciate the smallest things and what really matters. And I guess, to just focus on that and to let go of things that don’t really help.” Neo Rivera, cast as Fred, Scrooge’s nephew, spoke about the emotional core of his character. “To describe his character, he is a Christmas-loving nephew. But in a deeper sense, Christmas-loving because even though he has this push-and-pull relationship with his uncle, there’s this hope that he still holds on to… like ‘I would still honor my uncle, I would still honor my family…’ So personally, it really resonates with me, and all of us. We all have conflicts in our families, especially this Christmas season, we still hold on to that hope. We still get to spend time with them, honor them despite the conflicts and the clash… and that’s why my character is personal for me.” <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/life/12/03/16/review-a-christmas-carol-is-haunting-yet-spectacular">Review: &#x27;A Christmas Carol&#x27; is haunting yet spectacular </a> </div>CJ Navato, who plays the young Ebenezer Scrooge, chose the ghost of a Christmas present when asked the same question. “Siguro yung ghost of Christmas present, para makita ko how Christmas is for everyone, just to get an idea of how it is for others.” He also shared how the story connects with the meaning of the season. “I think maraming tao would get lost in the sense of what Christmas is really about. And I think lahat tayo eh, we’re on different journeys of finding out what really is meaningful… is it the food? But I think, ultimately, we’re all made to realize na it’s about the people you’re with, it’s about the people you love, the people who love you… and I think Scrooge is the symbol of our journeys to find love and happiness in all seasons of life, not only Christmas.” Dr. Gary Junsay, who plays Beadle, found the story’s message especially powerful. “Actually, the whole story is very exciting. It reminds us that money isn’t everything, and that wealth is just superficial. You can’t take it with you when you pass, so in a sense, the whole story is very meaningful. Also, the cast is… we’re also like one big family… the kids and everything, being a pediatrician, I’m so used to the kids.”Junsay also had the chance to step into Scrooge’s shoes temporarily. “Since Arnel was gone for two days… It was good, it was fun… actually Arnel kept teasing me when we met, he was like ‘Oh, you’re my understudy, so I can go get sick or something…’ I was like ‘No, I’m just a part of the ensemble!’ But I got to know the music and I fell in love with the songs…” &quot;A Christmas Carol: The Musical&quot; opens on November 29, 2025, and runs until December 21, 2025, with performances every Friday to Sunday at the Proscenium Theater, Rockwell Center, Makati. Showtimes are 7:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 PM on Sundays. Tickets are available via TicketWorld and at the Rockwell box office.
