BTS member Jin opened up about the creative process of his second solo album Echo, comparing it to his debut album Happy.

In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jin shared: "For the album Happy, it was shortly after I returned from my military service, and I was just starting to explore my emotions. But for this album Echo, I was able to capture my feelings better."

He also explained why Echo features more upbeat tracks. "I had the tour in mind as I was making the album, so I ended up with a lot more energetic songs," he relayed.

Jin recently released the lead single of his second album titled "Don't Say You Love Me."

The K-Pop star shared the concept behind the song. "When you're in love, sometimes you know that it's time to leave, but you can't bring yourself to do it. The song is about that emotion," he shared. "So it's sad, but it's also bittersweet."

Echo contains seven tracks including "Don't Say You Love Me," "Nothing Without Your Love," "Loser (featuring Yena)," "Rope It," "With the Clouds," "Background," and "To Me, Today."

Jin released Echo on May 16.

According to a press release reported by CNA Lifestyle, "aiming to connect on a deeper level with fans through music, Echo offers Jin’s perspective on universal life experiences, capturing everyday emotions with warmth and sincerity."

The album was also described as reflecting "a deeper layer of vocal maturity and personal storytelling that underscores Jin's evolving artistry.”

Meanwhile, Jin released his debut solo album Happy in November 2024.

"Happiness is a very important word and holds value for me," he said in a previous interview with Jimmy. "Simply because it is so important to me, I wanted to express happiness through music. So that's why the title of my album is Happy."

When asked what the difference was between creating his solo album and making a BTS album, the singer shared: "A BTS album incorporates the opinions of all the members, so it is a mix of many individual opinions. Whereas for this album, it includes my opinion only, so it feels more personal to me."
