Lani Misalucha relays story behind her ‘Asia’s Nightingale’ title

<p>For as long as people can remember, Lani Misalucha has been dubbed &#x27;Asia’s Nightingale.&#x27; But in an interview on the TFC talk show <em>BRGY</em>, the Filipino music icon revealed the story behind how she received the iconic moniker.</p><div><br/></div><p>“I was managed by Ronnie Henares. Maraming dumaan sa Primeline, yung pangalan ng kanilang management. So that was the time na wala na si Regine (Velasquez) sa Primeline. And then yung mag-asawa si Mr. Ronnie Henares at si Ate Ida (Ramos), they were like, ‘Oh my gosh, what are we gonna give her?’ Yun na nga parang title or a moniker,” she recalled.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="670" height="377" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Y3M17WCM3Js" title="Lani Misalucha Talks About Being A TNT Hurado | Apr 23, 2025 | BRGY Ep 219" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>Lani went on to share that Regine Velasquez’s &quot;Asia’s Songbird&quot; title may have inspired her management then to give her a bird-themed moniker as well.</p><div><br/></div><p>“Sabi nila, bakit hindi bigyan natin siya ng another bird name? Kasi nga, na-establish nila si Regine as a songbird. So they were also thinking of giving me the same name, na bird. And then one time, so they were praying about it. Si Ate Ida, I think, parang nasa kalye siya, tapos biglang may dumaan sa kanya na board na (may) nightingale. And then she called her husband, (she said) Ronnie, this is what we&#x27;re gonna give her, the nightingale,” Lani shared.</p><div><br/></div><p>The singer reacted positively, describing the gesture as beautiful.</p><div><br/></div><p>“Actually, sabi ko nga, ‘Wow, it&#x27;s really a beautiful name. And of course, noong time na yun, hindi ko naman alam na ano yung nightingale. And then it was just later on that, yun na nga, isa siyang, of course, isa siyang ibon that really sings beautifully,” she said.</p><div><br/></div><p>Meanwhile, Lani fondly recalled her early memories of singing as a young girl.</p><div><br/></div><p>“Masasabi ko na nalaman ko lang na nakakakanta ako, only because we&#x27;re Filipinos. And Filipino parents would be like this. Pag may bisita sa bahay, andyan si auntie, andyan si ninang, andyan si kapitbahay. Pag nandyan sa bahay, di ba gano&#x27;n mga Filipino parents, they would force you to sing in front of their bisita proudly,” Lani remembered.</p><div><br/></div><p>However, she revealed that becoming a professional singer was something she never imagined or originally intended to pursue: “I thought I was going to be doing something else, some normal job or other profession or other career, but not singing.”</p><div><br/></div><p>She also added that she had originally wanted to marry young.</p><div><br/></div><p>“At a very young age, probably about 8 or 9 years old, I was already praying to God that I wanted to have a family at a young age. I wanted to have children at a young age. And Heavenly Father, I said, ‘God, please provide me a very good husband who&#x27;s very hardworking, loving.’ Nabigay naman sa akin. That&#x27;s why I married at 21 years old,” she revealed.</p>
