Earl Agustin drops debut album 'Himig at Pag-ibig'

<p>Singer-songwriter Earl Agustin just dropped his first ever album, <em>Himig at Pag-ibig</em>, to the delight of his millions of listeners. Earl then made sure to let people embrace the Bisaya language with his new song, “Basin Puhon” –– the only Bisaya track in the album.</p><p>When asked by PUSH ABS-CBN, Earl admitted that “Basin Puhon” is currently what resonates with him at the moment due to his roots. He was born in Ozamiz City where the dominant language is Cebuano.</p><p>“It hits home for me kasi I’m a Bisaya. I’m from Mindanao kasi so Bisaya ako. First time kong magsulat din ng Bisaya na full song and the fact na naisama ko siya dito sa album means a lot to me. So, I think for now, ayun ‘yun pinaka nagresonate para sakin because of all that,” he said.</p><p>Despite it being his favorite song at the moment, the singer-songwriter maintained that he loves all of his songs equally and has different reasons for all of them. </p><p>Originally slated for an EP release, the 10-track album came to mind after Earl felt that the other five songs would help the story of his debut album. </p><p>“Eventually nagdecide kami to add the other 5. Kasi I feel like nakakatulong din siya sa story behind the entire album. Siguro din, gusto ko lang din siya na i-incorporate with the new songs kasi I’ve always wanted to release an album. And so, why not, diba? Parang isama ko na rin yung mga 5 earlier released songs,” he added.</p><p>All of the songs in his <em>Himig at Pag-Ibig </em>album are written by him–– something that he deliberately opted for. For him, his debut album is an introduction of himself to everyone who tunes in.</p><p>“Introduction din pala of who I am as an artist, kaya if you can notice ‘yung mga songs na nandoon [sa album], they are the songs that I released under the record label. Itong album na nandito ngayon, all of these songs are written by me. Bilang introduction din sa mga tao na ito ‘yung Earl Agustin type of songwriting and in terms of sound,” he shared.</p><p>His debut album <em>Himig at Pag-ibig</em> is out now on all digital streaming platforms. </p>
