VIVIZ reflects on debut album, decade in K-pop

In the fast-paced, fiercely competitive world of K-pop, maintaining longevity and popularity even after transitioning between groups is no small feat.</p><p>That’s why the trio composed of Eunha, SinB, and Umji believes it’s crucial to never grow complacent and to keep working hard to deliver what their fans, collectively known as Na.V, love.</p><p>“It has been 10, 11 years since we first debuted. In some ways, it feels that we’ve been working for so long in this industry. But, on the other hand, so many senior artists are actively promoting right now,”  Umji told ABS-CBN News in a recent interview, reflecting on the decade that has been.</p><p>“We think it&#x27;s important not to settle or become complacent. Even after a decade, we will work harder to show what Na.V like and love to see from us and improve ourselves,” she added.</p><div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAFz8gWM8iRADsJr&amp;cid=ABdHdnN0GPn-PrMS"></script></div><p>Eunha, SinB and Umji were formerly members of the popular six-member group GFriend, which debuted in 2015 and disbanded in 2021 following the expiration of their contracts with their original label. The trio chose to stay together, signing with BPM Entertainment and <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/05/21/22/viviz-on-queendom-2-and-planned-us-debut"><strong>re-debuting as VIVIZ</strong></a> in 2022.</p><p>While any new venture comes with the risk of failure, VIVIZ — backed by 1.6 million monthly Spotify listeners and 1.3 million Instagram followers — has continued to thrive with infectious dance-pop tracks like “Bop Bop!,” “Maniac,” and “Shhh!,” along with breezy summer hits like “Loveade.”</p><p>Their latest offering, “A Montage of ( ),” marks VIVIZ’s first full-length album and is led by the single “La La Love Me,” a dance-pop track laced with electronic elements that continues the trio’s streak of catchy, upbeat choruses.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gjHcbWTXqEY?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></div><p>“With so many tracks on this album, we&#x27;re truly thrilled and excited to be able to show Na.V a wider variety of who we are,” Umji said of the nine-track record.</p><p>“We believe it captures both the journey we&#x27;ve taken so far and the many sides of us we&#x27;re excited to show in the future,” Umji added.</p><div><strong>Solo songs</strong></div><p>For SinB, the album feels “more special and meaningful” because it features solo tracks from each of the trio, highlighting their individual artistry.</p><p>Eunha’s solo track, “Milky Way,” for example, features dreamy synths and a new jack swing vibe. </p><p>“I put a lot of my own taste into this song,” Eunha said, adding that it made her happy to think fans might listen and recognize “Milky Way” as the kind of music she liked or as something that reflected her personality.</p><p>Meanwhile, Umji’s R&amp;B track, “Love Language,” highlights her sweet vocal tone, while SinB’s “Hypnotic” delivers swagger with its bold hip-hop sound.</p><p>“It somehow ended up being the most powerful song on this whole album. I hope you enjoy my delicate and soft voice with that strong beat,” SinB said of her solo song.</p><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1753673440731VIVIZ_1 (1).jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><strong>Tour</strong></div><p>Along with their comeback, VIVIZ launched a world tour titled “New Legacy,” which kicked off with two shows in Seoul on July 5 and 6. The tour is set to continue across Asia and Australia, with additional cities to be announced.</p><p>“The only disappointing part [about the tour] of it is that we couldn’t visit the Philippines this time. And while it might sound like a cliché, the trio genuinely draws strength from their fans.</p><p>“Although we sometimes feel physically exhausted, our fans always keep sending us so much love and support for all of our promotions,” Umji said.</p><p>Eunha added, “It’s been hectic and exhausting, but when we see Na.V at fan signs and various events, we’re happy to meet so many new fans who’ve gotten to know us through these activities.”</p><p>“There’s no other choice but to work hard!” she said.</p>
