<p>“This Na Malambing” singer Ryannah J has shown support for her girlfriend, singer-songwriter mrld, following the latter’s statements after announcing that she is now an independent artist.</p><div> </div><p>On social media, Ryannah expressed her sentiments for mrld after the singer declared her independence despite O/C Records clarifying that her contract with the label remains active.</p><div> </div><p>“Ang masasabi ko lang, pagbutihin mo lang ang ginagawa mo at lagi mong isapuso ang talentong ibinigay sa’yo. Huwag mawawala ang puso mo sa musika, dahil alam kong sobrang galing mong manunulat, maganda ang boses mo, at mahal ng tao ang mga kanta mo. Hindi aksidente na may mga taong nakakaramdam at naaabot ng mga kanta mo. Mabuti kang tao, at hindi ibig sabihin noon ay dapat kang abusuhin o ipagsawalang-bahala,” she expressed.</p><div> </div><p>The singer also spoke about what she described as the “ugly system” in the music industry, where unfair and unjust contracts are sometimes given to artists.</p><div> </div><p>“Kung ang iba man ay nabigyan ng pribilehiyo na magkaroon ng magandang kontrata, congratulations. Pero hindi ibig sabihin noon na hindi na nangyayari ang mga pangit na sistema sa loob ng industriya. Hindi lahat may lakas ng loob na magsabi ng totoo. Salamat sa pagiging matapang at sa pagbibigay ng boses sa mga artist na matagal nang tahimik,” she continued.</p><div> </div><p>“Higit pa sa numero, higit pa sa porsyento, ang halaga ng musika at ng puso na inilalagay mo sa bawat kanta. Mabuhay ang OPM!”</p><p>Mrld later reposted her girlfriend’s message and thanked her for the support: “I love you! 🥹 saksi ka sa lungkot ay saya na naramdaman ko sa lahat ng nangyari. salamat at patuloy ka rin naniniwala sakin. andito lang din ako para tulungan ka sa lahat ng tatahakin mo pa sa musika. 🤍”</p><div> </div><p>She continued by saying that those who have not experienced what she went through should consider themselves fortunate, especially those who continue to comment despite not being part of the situation. She also emphasized that she knows she is not the only artist going through such struggles.</p><div> </div><p>Last Saturday, March 7, mrld announced that she is now an independent artist. The singer-songwriter opened up about her experiences over the past months where it “has been a rough patch.”</p><div> </div><p>“I can&#x27;t garner in words how much of my head space has been taken up ever since the year started. There were a lot of conflicts with me and the people I worked with in the past that I still think about up to this day. God knows how much I prayed for this day.”</p><div> </div><p>“God knows how much I cried and asked if I&#x27;m still doing the right thing at kung kaya ba talaga ako buhayin ng musika na to. Oo, sobrang mahal ko ang ginagawa ko. I WENT INDEPENDENT BECAUSE MY FAMILY NEEDS TO EAT AND LIVE. Di kami mabubuhay sa barya lang.”</p><div> </div><p>The “Sandali” singer also noted that she asked “several times for a meeting,” but the music label was allegedly a “no show,” and that the expiration of her contract had already passed.</p><div> </div><p>“Dapat lahat ng tao may karapatang umalis. Tiniis ko na ang limang taon na yon oh, siguro enough na yon. Di naman siguro 100 pesos lang naging ambag ko sa inyo diba? Numbers don&#x27;t lie,” she expressed, while rallying support for independent artists and urging music labels to take good care of their artists.</p><div> </div><p>As of this writing, O/C Records has yet to release another statement regarding the matter.</p>
