MANILA -- OPM icon Ice Seguerra has released a new version of his monster hit song “Pagdating ng Panahon,” 25 years after the intimate ballad launched his music career.“Pagdating ng Panahon (25 years later)” retains the simplicity of the original but with deeper emotional heft as Seguerra’s voice brings a lifetime of experience to the emotional ballad.Seguerra, who first shot to fame as a contestant on Little Miss Philippines and as a mainstay of noontime show Eat Bulaga!, said the song literally changed his life when it came out in 2001.“When ‘Pagdating ng Panahon’ came out, parang, people were like, ‘Kumakanta pala si Aiza?’ Mula noon, nagkaroon na sila ng ibang pagtingin sa&#x27;kin. So, hindi na lang child star, kundi matinee idol, tsaka musician,” he said in a Philippine Star interview.In a Facebook post, Seguerra also recalled the first time he heard “Pagdating ng Panahon” played on the radio.“Gumagawa ako ng homework and when I heard the intro, dali-dali ako bumaba para tawagin sina Mama and Daddy para sabay-sabay namin mapakinggan,” he said.“I never thought this one song would bring me to where I am now. Na after 25 years, yung pagmamahal ng mga tao sa awiting ito ay dadalhin ako sa iba’t ibang entablado sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng mundo.”Seguerra also commended lyricist Edith Gallardo, composer Moy Ortiz and producer Margot Gallardo “for being so patient with me during the recording.”He also heaped praise on his music label “for the trust you guys gave me kahit hindi ako sigurado sa sarili ko bilang singer, to everyone who worked tirelessly 25 years ago para masiguradong makarating itong awitin na ito sa maraming tao.”“More importantly, thank you to the fans who made this song their own. Thank you for making this song a part of your lives as much as it is mine.”Ice recently held an exclusive listening party for the song at Fire and Ice Studios.Seguerra is set to perform in a one-night-only sold-out concert at CenterPlay in City of Dreams Manila on April 22, and at the Viva Cafe on April 25.
