The 316 music fans, musicians as well as members of the media were on hand to listen to Space-Ta’s Debussy debut album (after releasing several extended play singles over the years) that sounds like a paean to 1990s alternative music.Eight of the 10 songs on Debussy were audio previews, while two – “5012” and “Di Man Tayo” – were music videos.Normally, listening sessions for new music are hosted at independent record stores, bars, or even homes.Said music fan and professional photographer Erick Dantoc, “Para kang nakikinig ng music sa ilalim ng buwan.”Space-Ta confirmed that was exactly the effect that he wanted to convey in this most audacious of listening parties.<div>Spotted in attendance were members of IV of Spades, Greyhoundz, Pedicab, Tarsius, Radioactive Sago Project, the Sleepyheads, and others.<img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777688189447DSC_3439.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1777688208346DSC_3252.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Photos from Erick Dantoc</div>Added Space-Ta, the plan for &quot;Debussy&quot; is for each of the 10 songs to be released in 7-inch single format with music on one side and etchings on the other side of the wax. The kicker though said the musician is the singles will all be released in a very inexpensive limited-edition box set that is due later this year.This format had been popular for years with acts such as Paul McCartney, the Beatles, Oasis, Rancid, and Morrisey to name but a few albeit they are reissues. The only one to put out a box set of new music upon its release was the 1994 tribute to pop group, the Carpenters with &quot;If I Were a Carpenter.&quot;Space-Ta takes it a step further by breaking new ground not just for music in general but Filipino music in general because all this is new music.Summed up Space-Ta, “All these efforts are not about gimmicks, but bringing excitement to Filipino music.”
