She grew up in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, where she finished high school at St. Mary’s College and her passion for performing was developed and honed. As a child, she used to showcase her singing skills during mass and participating in occasional intermission numbers.Thus, even before she was able to develop her acting chops, Maris has already been musically talented since she comes from a musical family, with their padre de familia being a folk singer and their ilaw ng tahanan being an active singer at church.In her MYX interview in October 2020, she enthusiastically shared how musically inclined and gifted their entire family is. She imparted how her Papa has kept his passion for music burning by having small gigs in their city while also attending to his business. At the same time, her brothers also have a band, while her sisters are really into music as well, which make it inevitable for her to grow up with it. We may not see much of her family either on social media posts or vlog uploads, but we’re certain that they always have her back with all the career and personal milestones that Maris has been achieving throughout the past decade.
