Gela and Ken's intense preparation behind every ASAP Supahdance performance

For the past 30 years, &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap">ASAP</a>&quot; has been a home to the country&#x27;s finest talents. Knowing this, new-gen dance idols Gela Atayde and Ken San Jose couldn’t be more honored to be part of he show, particularly in one of its most iconic segments, “Supahdance.”  For Ken, returning to &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; after some time away feels like a full-circle moment. &quot;I feel like I really have to fill the shoes that I&#x27;m going into again, especially being with Gela, and dancers like AC [Bonifacio], Gab [Valenciano], and being next to the most sought after crews and teams in the Philippines, and being on such a high-level and high-demanding stage sa ASAP. For thirty years, it&#x27;s something that the whole nation has watched,&quot; he shared during his interview alongside Gela on Kapamillya Chat.  Gela echoes the sentiment, recalling how &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; has been a huge part of her childhood, &quot;I grew up watching &#x27;ASAP&#x27; talaga. Ang dami kong naririnig na artista before na pangarap nila mag-&#x27;ASAP.&#x27; Even si Kuya Arjo [Atayde] and my mom [Sylvia Sanchez] were like, &#x27;ASAP is a big deal.&#x27; Naririnig ko &#x27;yun growing up.&quot; She gushed, &quot;Now that I am the one that&#x27;s on that stage, it&#x27;s so surreal, and humbling at the same time.&quot; Of course, with such a huge platform comes immense pressure. Gela admits that stepping onto the &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; stage means putting yourself out there for the audience to see—and critique. &quot;It&#x27;s a vulnerability. People see you, and it&#x27;s for them to criticize you at the same time. Kaya sobrang high pressure rin siya on our end bilang mananayaw talaga. &#x27;Pag pinapanood kami, it&#x27;s like, &#x27;Ito talaga &#x27;yung dancers,&#x27; so we live up to that,&quot; she opened up. Despite the pressure, both Ken and Gela are beyond grateful to &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; for allowing them to be part of its “Supahdance” legacy. &quot;Now na kami na &#x27;yung nando&#x27;n, it&#x27;s like, &#x27;Okay, let&#x27;s do it.&#x27; Nagtitinginan kami, bahala na!&quot; shared Gela, who also hosts the reality competition &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/timetodance">Time To Dance</a>.&quot;  Ken, for his part, takes the challenge seriously and constantly pushes himself to improve every week. He would review clips after their performances, and pay close attention to every movement, analyzing if there were any mistake and maybe figuring out what he can do better next time. &quot;It&#x27;s almost like how athletes will watch their games. We critique every single detail, we look at every single thing,&quot; revealed the &quot;World of Dance Philippines&quot; alumnus.  Gela added, “We just want to grow and we want to give the audience something they deserve.&quot; Gela and Ken, and surely the rest of the &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; dance idols are committed to giving audiences the best performance possible, pouring their hearts into every routine. But they also make sure to enjoy the process. After all, dancing is supposed to be fun. They would  find moments to joke around and keep things light during rehearsals just to keep the experience exciting.  And speaking of fun, when asked to pick just one song they’d be willing to dance to for the rest of their lives, they thought it would be too impossible. So instead, they picked one artist. And, in unison, Gela and Ken answered, “Chris Brown.” They look up to the R&amp;B star, so much so that Ken considers their &quot;Angel Numbers&quot; last Sunday his most favorite &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; prod ever.  Gela and Ken invite everyone to watch out for the &quot;<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ASAP</a>&quot; 30th Anniversary Homecoming, which will be a spectacular celebration filled with exciting comebacks and unforgettable performances. As Gela teased, it&#x27;s set to be a nostalgic celebration for longtime fans and the show&#x27;s OGs, while also delivering a grand showcase of talent that everyone will enjoy.
