Following the tremendous success of “Expecially For You,” “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>” introduced a new matchmaking segment last April entitled “Step In The Name Of Love,” which caters to single individuals either searching for their potential first love or their next romance. Launched on April 7, 2025, the latest segment is relatively lighter and playful, as it aims to help a searcher assess who among the set of searchees (called “hakbangers”) could be his/her possible date by the end of the game. Aside from the impressions, interactions, and gut feelings of the searcher and the searchees, a best friend (called “hype bestie”) of the searcher is also present in the studio as he/she takes part in the process by hyping up the admirable qualities of his/her bestie and by exposing the unpleasant traits of him/hers. And over the past weeks of watching the segment, we’ve indeed already witnessed not just a lot of kilig moments but also amusing ones, such as when the besties expose the searcher or the searcher and searchees themselves disclose their red flags. In this episode of Showtime Toplist, we have compiled some of those astonishing and interesting confessions that we’ve encountered so far.Let’s begin with that episode wherein “hype bestie” Carl blatantly shared that his besfriend Mark tends to wear again clothes that he already put in the laundry, especially if they still smell nice or are not dirty yet. Mark defended himself by denying Carl’s claim and revealing that Carl actually borrows clothes from him, just like the one he was wearing in that episode.While it could probably be easy for searcher Dale to capture a lot of hearts with his undeniable charm and handsomeness, his wingman Justin revealed that there are instances when he gets lazy to reply or update because he’s so engrossed in playing as a self-confessed hardcore mobile gamer. Dale further related that there were times when it would take him 14 hours to play with eating as his only breaks, then went on to claim that he actually sends a notice if he would be gone for a long time. For sure, many madlang people were able to relate to searcher Collyne, who was described by her bestie Ella as someone who’s willing to give her all to her partner just for them not to leave or hurt her. While we’re unsure if this falls as a red flag or a green flag, Ella further shared that Collyne kept her communication with her ex while she was already in a relationship with her second boyfriend. Collyne denied it, but Ella countered that she actually got back with her former flame. Despite acing her “Purposive Communication” subject at school, searcher Sam revealed that she’s actually not good at dealing with guys, especially those who try to make advances at her. Sam admitted to “ghosting” her admirers, confessing that she tends to immediately turn her back on someone once she sees something that highly turns her off. According to Sam, it’s because she is already too swamped with schoolwork, that she doesn’t have the time nor the energy to explain herself anymore. Thus, Vice Ganda advised her that while it’s still okay for now since she does not have deep bonds with them yet, she may consider changing this habit since she might carry it with her until she grows old and has a family of her own. The other hosts also advised Sam to not wait for her to be “ghosted” before she stops doing so. Through the weeks that they’ve been hosting the segment, the Unkabogble Star couldn’t help but notice that there are participants who seem to be attracted to those who had the same experience, personality, or habit as theirs, regardless if it’s bad or not. Just like in the case of searcher Jack and “hakbanger” Hera, who both had records of “ghosting” yet still see potential in one another.And lastly, as his BFF Roland exposed that Michael is the type who tends to hop from one job to another in his pursuit of personal and career growth, “hakbangers” Celina, Haydn, and Angela all stepped down, for they found it a major turnoff. They wanted him to address this issue first before possibly getting into a relationship since they are all career-driven women who wish to have a man who is already secure and stable in life.What about you, madlang people?
