7 fun ‘senior moments’ in It’s Showtime’s “Step in the Name of Love”

On April 7, 2025, “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>” launched its newest segment, “Step in the Name of Love,” a playful dating game that taps into the appeal of love and matchmaking. Over the past two months, we’ve already heard hilarious and heartwarming stories of searchers and their trusty besties, and even of the “searchees” (a.k.a. the “hakbangers”), as well as witnessed a pair of “searcher” and “searchee” becoming “matchmates” by the end of the game.In the first few weeks of the segment, the participants were noticeably comprised of young adult singles. But in recent weeks, we have surely observed that the participants were already either middle-aged or elderly, who are all still hoping to find someone who can be their potential companion as they continue to journey here on Earth. And they are indeed proofs that age is just a number when it comes to love!Let us revisit seven of the fun “senior moments” on “Step in the Name of Love” in this episode of Showtime Toplist!First off was when host Vice Ganda got a bit ‘exaggerated’ when she gave searcher Myra and her bestie Yolly an orientation at the beginning of the segment for the May 26 episode. The Unkabogable Star and her co-hosts didn’t only provide them instructions on how the “game” is being played, but she also taught them what some of the items and persons inside the studio are called, from the “cameramen” to the “set” and the “audience.”Vice then couldn’t help but be shocked upon hearing Myra’s response when quizzed if it would be fine with her if the man she was going to date were younger than her. Myra replied, “Okay lang po, basta swak,” which made the host stand up from her seat and ask Yolly to clarify her bestie’s statement. The following day, the hosts had an amusing kuwentuhan with Batangueño best friends Ric and Tyger as they talked about their longtime friendship and Ric’s journey in finding new love. When asked by the Unkabogable Star why he yearns to have a girlfriend at 57, Ric jested that it’s because the days get colder, especially every time it rains. Thus, she gave him a couple of tips on how to make himself feel warm.After pointing out that the pink blouse of searcher Nanay Oli blended with the color of the staircase, the Unkabogable Star went on to quiz her about the usual things that she and her dates used to do back in the day. But things got a bit spicy when Vice asked if she and her date then kissed at the end of their rendezvous, and Nanay Oli playfully responded that they actually do more than it.Then Unkabogable Star couldn’t help but exaggeratedly react upon hearing from searcher Josie that the reason why she and her last boyfriend broke up was because of her late mother’s strictness. Josie imparted that her ex suggested for them to live at her house together when the lockdown was about to be implemented during the pandemic, but Josie’s mom objected to the idea since she wanted them to get married first before living together. This obviously ‘appalled’ Vice at first since Josie was already 56 at the time, yet she went on to add that, perhaps, her mom was very religious and conservative.And lastly, from being loveless for so many years, Josie went on to have not just one but three dates by the end of the game after Vice decided to break the rules as her way of showing her support for her pursuit of happiness and even forever love.
