“<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>”’s very own oppa, Bang Hyun-sung, or more popularly known to us as Ryan Bang, just turned 33 last June 16! And on his very special day, he treated everyone with an amusing and invigorating production number, through which he unleashed the inner K-pop idol in him by singing and dancing to a medley of songs (mostly Korean!).A week may have already passed, yet we wouldn’t let at least his birth month simply pass without giving him a little present. Thus, we have compiled, via this Showtime Toplist feature, nine of his fondest and most unforgettable core moments in recent years that the madlang people might also want to revisit as well.Let us begin with one of the highlights of his 2022, which was his first time ever to win Magpasikat after 15 years of being an “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>” host. His collaboration with Jhong Hilario, which exhibited the rich and vibrant culture and traditions of South Korea and the Philippines, as well as the enduring and cordial ties between the two nations that go way back, apparently captivated the stellar hurados, for it was they who got the highest grade of 9.35%. Coincidentally, Jhong wasn’t able to make it to work that day because he was sick; thus the spotlight was just on Ryan, who wasn’t able to keep himself from getting emotional as he accepted their prizes and delivered his speech.Those who have been watching the noontime program ever since its early years could probably recall that Ryan used to have a tradition of giving away a piece of his OOTD, usually his shirt, to the madlang people during his hurado days. And he did it again after more than a decade in 2024 after he was asked by Tyang Amy Perez to do so as his FUNishment in the “Bata Bata Pik” segment. He willingly obliged to take his shirt off and threw it to the madlang audience, yet asked the person who was able to snatch it to return it first to him because it was freezing cold inside the studio.Ryan’s acting chops and bravery were put to the test in an episode of “And The Breadwinner Is…”, wherein he was asked to take the stage to play the role of a patient to one of the contestants. Thus, his co-hosts didn’t only require him to pretend that he was sick but also urged the “nurse” to try the injection on him, which rattled Ryan so much. As he attempted to get away, the hosts ganged up to stop him, making him extra terrified, and he jokingly yelled at the “nurse” to remind him that it was all just for the show.Aside from simply waiting for the punong hurado’s signal to hit the gong as one of the “gong-bassadors” of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” Ryan was given another special assignment: to come up with at least one joke in each episode. However, there were instances when his co-hosts, particularly his Mommy Vice Ganda, were able to figure out the answers to his puns because either they’re so clever or his punchlines were just really outdated.Of course, who would forget that episode from 2022 wherein TNT judge Yeng Constantino disclosed the romantic history that she and Ryan used to share more than a decade ago? Upon learning that he suddenly “ghosted” Yeng in the midst of pursuing her, the Unkabogable Star and Vhong Navarro ‘berated’ Ryan and took him outside of the studio, then forced him to embark on one of the cars parked there—which happened to be owned by Karylle—and seemingly ordered the driver to drive off.Around a year after his unintentional “ghosting” deed got exposed, Ryan delighted his “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>” family and the madlang people were elated when he happily announced that he finally had a girlfriend! Apparently, his beloved significant other, who was later on revealed to be a non-showbiz young woman named Paola Huyong, just gave him her sweet “yes” the day before. His co-hosts gave him their traditional warm and huge group hug as their way of celebrating this breakthrough that they knew he had been waiting for and truly deserved.After only less than a year, Ryan once again made a special announcement in June 2024, this time his engagement with Paola. While everyone was genuinely happy and excited for him, Vice couldn’t help but get emotional for this new chapter in the life of her “son.” She related that Ryan first broke the great news to her rather than to his parents, which really touched her, as well as reminded him that the madlang people, especially the “solid Showtimers,” are surely joyous for him, too.And just in time for his 34th birthday celebration, his fiancée finally appeared live on the show to show her zealous support for him and to join the “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>” family in celebrating his special day. Paola may not have joined Ryan in his performance, yet she gave him a sweet and kilig message that truly melted not just his heart but also ours.“Ryan, I love you so much. My only wish for you is that I want the best for you. You know that, right? I’ll always be your cheerleader in everything,” Paola told the birthday boy, to which he responded by declaring that she is indeed his “answered prayer”.However, it was not only Paola who made a special stint on that episode, for Ryan’s mom also came all the way from South Korea to personally join her son in celebrating his birthday.
