If there’s one thing “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/itsshowtime" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">It’s Showtime</a>,” especially the segment “Laro Laro Pick,” has been teaching us lately, it’s the power of using one’s platform for the greater good and reminding Filipinos to lift one another up. Beyond the laughter, the prizes, and the playful competition, this segment has become a space where stories of resilience and empathy take center stage, giving us moments so touching they leave us teary-eyed.In one episode, we met Jovie, a father providing for his family by selling balut on the streets. His nights are filled with hard work just to keep his family&#x27;s needs afloat. When he shared his story on the game arena, Vice Ganda promised to pay his family’s house rent for a year, sparing him the heavy burden of raising P3,500 each month. Vice said P3,500 a month may sound ordinary to some, but it&#x27;s surely had always been difficult to pull together from a balut vendor&#x27;s small earnings. Moved by Meme’s gesture, Tatay Jovie cried as he expressed his gratitude.Inday’s story brought inspiration as well. She works in an ice cream company and has been raising five kids on her own since 2010, after her relationship with the kids&#x27; father fell apart due to infidelity. As a solo parent, she&#x27;s endured so much hardship and pain, especially back when the separation was still fresh and her children were still young. When Vice asked what she brought with her when she left with her kids, Inday answered, “sakit,” pointing to her chest. Ondo doesn’t even know what dreams to chase for himself anymore because he’s always put his family’s needs first. When asked his wish for this coming Christmas, he said all he really hopes for is to finally visit his loved ones again in Davao after nearly 15 years. Hearing this, Vice Ganda promised to cover his fare and add on more gifts because she just wanted him to come home and have the happiest Christmas possible.When &#x27;sorbeteros&#x27; or ice cream vendors were invited to play in the game arena, we got to hear the story of Tatay Armando from General Trias, Cavite, who&#x27;s been selling ice cream since the 1970s. Now 72, traces of hard work could be seen in his wrinkled skin, but he still keeps pushing his ice cream cart every day. He said he doesn’t earn much, but he still finds joy in making his own ice cream and sharing it with kids, sometimes for free. Tatay Armando&#x27;s wife, who was present in the studio, shared that she&#x27;s proud of her husband as he never gives up  on their family no matter how hard things get. Vice also felt proud of the big-hearted father and ‘sorbetero,’ so she promised that his family would have a happy Christmas celebration. She&#x27;ll make sure Tatay Armando&#x27;s family will enjoy a good Noche Buena together, and that his grandchildren will receive toys as gifts, just as he has always tried to do from his small earnings as an ice cream vendor.It’s not every day that we see a woman working as a bus driver, which is why the hosts chose to talk to Lyn in an episode featuring bus drivers in the segment. Lyn turned emotional when she gave a message to her mother.
