<p>After the longest journey and the hardest battles that he and his family, friends, and supporters had gone through, the road still ended at the city hall for Tanggol (Coco Martin), as he finally took oath as the rightful mayor of Manila in the March 9 episode of “<a href="http://batangquiapo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</u></strong></a>.”</p><p>This comes after the massive bloodshed that took place at the city hall, which, unfortunately, claimed the lives of many Manileños who joined Tanggol in his fight against the Guerreros, as the corrupt family claimed Manila as their own. Among those who were killed in the fierce battle was Tanggol’s father, Ramon (Christopher de Leon), after he was fatally shot from behind by Roberto (Albert Martinez) during their last encounter.</p><div> </div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/2026/3/6/batang-quiapo-ang-pamamaalam-ni-ramon-montenegro-episode-794-2229"><strong><u>WATCH: Ang Pamamaalam ni Ramon Montenegro | FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</u></strong></a></div><div> </div><p>Setting aside his leather jackets and casual attire, Tanggol looked every bit the dignified leader in his tailored cream-colored Barong Tagalog and formal black trousers for his long-awaited inauguration as Manila’s mayor. Before heading to city hall, he shared a heartfelt moment with his Lola Tindeng (Charo Santos) and his mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), who both promised to stay by his side and continue guiding him as he took on the very important responsibility of leading the city.</p><p>Tanggol, in turn, expressed his gratitude—thanking Tindeng for leading the fight against the Guerreros that brought them to this day, and Marites for her unwavering support. He vowed not only to fulfill his pledge to serve his constituents with utmost sincerity but also to restore and strengthen their family in honor of his late father.</p><p>Ponggay (Maris Racal), Chona (Via Antonio), and Roda (Joel Lamangan) joined to personally congratulate him, while Congressman Leo Mojica (Rey Campanilla) led their team and throngs of supporters waiting outside his home as they cheered for Tanggol as soon as he went out. Rather than traveling in luxury cars, he and his team rode a jeepney and several tricycles to Manila City Hall, with Tanggol seated in the front passenger seat—close enough to wave and interact with the people who had come to celebrate this historic day.</p><p>He was officially sworn in by National Electoral Council Commissioner Ignacio Medina (Simon Ibarra), who bravely upheld the truth and declared him the rightful winner of the last elections, despite facing threats from the Guerreros. He delivered his first-ever speech as Manila’s mayor, through which he outlined his plans for the city.
