Inside the intense action training of Sue Ramirez, Jerald Napoles, and the cast of “Coco Martin’s Sigabo”

<p>Some of the cast members have already been revealed, and the full trailer has finally been unveiled. With only a few days to go before its highly anticipated premiere on June 22, the excitement among fans and loyal Kapamilya viewers for “<a href="http://sigabo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>Coco Martin’s Sigabo</u></strong></a>” continues to amplify. </p><p>But before we get to see what Coco Martin and Julia Montes have in store for everyone anticipating their return on primetime, CCM Film Productions offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into the cast’s intensive preparations. He expressed his desire to have a fight scene with Direk Coco because he wanted to learn more from him. Besides, he also wished for his character to engage in more fisticuffs onscreen, proudly noting that he had already established himself as a mixed martial arts fighter and even became a two-time champion before beginning his acting career. </p><p>He went on to tease viewers about his character, saying that Daboy will be completely different from the character he portrayed in “<a href="http://batangquiapo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</u></strong></a>.” While he described his previous role as “astig,” Daboy, according to him, will be “maangas” while also being soft-hearted and unexpectedly timid. </p><p>Jerald, who will play Tolits, meanwhile, humorously conveyed his willingness to be punched in the face by Coco because he firmly believes that getting hit by the actor-director can almost be considered a badge of honor. For him, it usually means that an actor’s role is significant, making it an experience worth anticipating for him. </p><p>While most of his projects have been in comedy, Jerald shared that stunt work is something he has long been familiar with, since he had learned and trained in performing stunts years ago. For him, the most challenging aspect of it is ensuring that no one gets hurt in the process while making every move appear painful, heavy, and powerful since punches and kicks are never intended to land. </p><p>As for how he would describe his action style in “<a href="http://sigabo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>Sigabo</u></strong></a>,” Jerald jokingly called it “spacious,” explaining that because of his height and reach, he needs more room to move. He admitted that every kick or punch feels like it could accidentally hit someone near him. So, more than anything, he simply hopes that no one ends up getting injured. </p><p>Meanwhile, actress Sue Ramirez thinks that if there’s one word to describe the kind of action she’ll showcase in the series, it would be “kalye.” As Tekla, she will show viewers how women handle themselves in street fights, regarding her character as a tough, outspoken woman who grew up in a neighborhood where most people were known to be “siga.” </p><p>Like Jerald, this won’t be Sue’s first time doing stunts since she had done an action film before, as well as taken on several action sequences in her earlier projects. However, since many of her past roles painted her as a damsel in distress, she shared that she’s excited and hopeful to take on more action-heavy scenes this time—something she considers one of the most thrilling parts of joining the teleserye.</p><p>“Gusto ko ako naman ‘yong palaban. Gusto ko hindi naman ako [‘yong] nakikidnap [o ‘yong] kawawa, gano’n. Para rin ipakita, ‘di ba, na girls are strong,” she remarked, adding that she would love to have a fight scene either against or alongside lead actress Julia Montes. </p><p>On the other hand, even though he’s set to portray a gangster once again in “<a href="http://sigabo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>Sigabo</u></strong></a>,” rapper-actor Bassilyo shared that compared to his previous roles, his character Ipe feels much closer to who he is in real life. When asked whom he would want to share fight scenes with, he named Jhong Hilario and Baron Geisler—both of whom he has previously worked with. </p><p>Since it had already been quite some time since the last time that he did acting following his character’s death in “<a href="http://batangquiapo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</u></strong></a>,” actor-rapper Smugglaz, who’s poised to play Bong, still considered it important to undergo training for his knowledge and skills in doing stunts and gun-handling be refreshed. Although the upcoming series carries a lighter vibe compared to its predecessor, Smugglaz has kept in mind Direk Coco’s reminder for him to maintain his “maangas” persona in “<a href="http://sigabo.abs-cbn.com"><strong><u>Sigabo</u></strong></a>.” As for the character he most hopes to go head-to-head with onscreen, Smugglaz did not hesitate to name Django to be portrayed by Jhong. </p><p>Aside from the cast, fight directors Gringo and Fred, along with assistant director Karlo, also talked about the rigorous training being undertaken by both the actors and stuntmen in preparation for the series.  </p><p>According to Gringo, the stunt team has been carefully developing a fighting style for Coco’s character, Gabo, that will be distinctly different from Tanggol, allowing viewers to see a fresh side of the actor in his much-awaited return. </p><p>Karlo, meanwhile, disclosed that the training session featured in the video was part of the preparations for a major fight sequence between Django and Gabo, which would eventually escalate into a large-scale riot scene. He added that while Jerald and Sue continue to refine their movements to make their action sequences appear more cinematic, Coco has also been undergoing training to adapt to the new fighting techniques that Gabo will showcase in the series. </p><p>Fred, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of the weekly training sessions they conduct ahead of production. He shared that even before filming officially begins, the cast and stunt team already undergo regular training every Saturday to prioritize everyone’s safety on set. </p><p>Are you as excited to see Coco and the rest of his castmates get into action?
