<p>MANILA - Typhoon Ferdie (international name: Meranti) left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) last Wednesday, but not without leaving a trail of destruction in the northern part of Luzon.</p><p>Bayan Patroller Aeron Mayor on Friday sent photos of roofless and flattened structures, broken glass windows and doors, toppled electric posts and damaged properties in Batanes.</p><p>Here are some photos he captured on September 14 and 15, after Ferdie left the Philippines.</p><script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.js" 500,});	</script><p>Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 4 was raised in Batanes and Babuyan group of Islands at the height of the typhoon&#x27;s onslaught.</p><p>Parts of Batanes were also left without power and water during those times.</p><p>&quot;Wala kami casualties. Pero ang heavy ng damage namin sa crop at saka infrastructure (We do not have casualties but crops and infrastructures were heavily damaged),&quot; Batanes Rep. Henedina Abad told ANC in an <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/09/14/16/parts-of-batanes-left-without-power-water-after-ferdie-onslaught">interview last Thursday</a>.</p><div><strong>NO COMMUNICATION </strong></div><p>Meanwhile, Rachel Ponce, an Itbayat native staying in Manila, told ABS-CBN News that she hasn&#x27;t heard from her family in their town since last Tuesday.</p><p>&quot;&#x27;Yung halos huling communication is nilipad na po &#x27;yung bubong ng mga bahay, bihira pong mangyari &#x27;yun,&quot; she said. &quot;Nag-evacuate na &#x27;yung iba sa mga may concrete houses.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Ang na-receive na text ng ibang pamilya e gumewang-gewang ang stone houses na hndi naman po nangyari pa before,&quot; she added.</p><p>Ponce added that people in Itbayat seldom worry during typhoons, but the lack of updates in the aftermath of Ferdie is making them nervous.</p><p>&quot;Nag-aalala na kami, we seldom do. Ilan araw na kaming walang naririnig na communication sa kanila. We are so worried. </p><p>&quot;We just want to know if there are casualties, kung buhay pa ba sila? Sa Itbayat kasi ang eye ng typhoon.&quot;</p><p>Ponce appealed to the national government, particularly to President Rodrigo Duterte, for help.</p><p>&quot;Kung ang C130 puwede pang mag fly sa Basco, kami naman sa Itbayat island, ibang sitwasyon naman &#x27;yun. </p><p>&quot;Kahit maka land ang C130 (kung sino man ang ibaba doon) may around 12km away pang dadaanan before makarating sa town proper. </p><p>&quot;At malamang sa ngayon, hindi pa feasible ang daan dahil sa mga nagbagsakan na mga punongkahoy.</p><p>&quot;Helicopter has been requested but is of no avail,&quot; she said in a Facebook post.</p><figure class="op-interactive"><iframe allowtransparency="true" frameBorder="0" height="294" scrolling="no" src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Frachel.ponce.35%2Fposts%2F1339478812730210&amp;width=500" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" width="500"></iframe></figure><p>After it left PAR, the typhoon battered southeastern China with strong winds and torrential rains.</p><p>The Xinhua news agency described the storm as the most powerful to hit Fujian province in at least 67 years, with meteorological records only going back to the founding of modern China in 1949.</p>
