'Bahay berde' and Bahay Pangarap: Duterte's 1st and 2nd home

<p>The country&#x27;s first president from Mindanao, President Rodrigo Duterte, has opted to stay in Bahay Pangarap as his official residence in Manila. He is expected to move in next week.</p><p>Bahay Pangarap, which is in Malacanang Park across the Palace, was restored by Architect Francisco Mañosa during the Ramos administration. It was demolished and rebuilt in 2008 by architect <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/05/03/16/zsa-zsa-calls-off-engagement-to-longtime-partner">Conrad Onglao</a>, the former partner of singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla.</p><p>Bahay Pangarap now has a &quot;contemporary style (retaining the basic shape of the roof as a nod to the previous historic structure), replacing, as well, the Commonwealth-era swimming pool and pergolas with a modern swimming pool,&quot; the Palace website says.</p><p>Like his predecessor, Benigno Aquino III, a bachelor, Duterte, who is also officially single, does not want to live in Malacanang Palace.</p><p>Aquino felt the Palace was too big for him.
