MANILA - Around 200 registered Filipino voters based in Hong Kong were initially unable to cast their votes in the first few days of the overseas absentee voting (OAV) after discovering that their names were not included in the Election Day Certified Voter's List (EDCVL).

This was confirmed by Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Arthur Lim, the commissioner-in-charge of overseas voting.

Lim explained that this was due to a malfunction of the voter registration machine last year.

But he said the poll body has already addressed the matter.

"We immediately addressed the problem by preparing a supplementary Election Day Certified Voter's List. Supplemental kasi meron nang EDCVL. Yung mga 200 kababayan natin sa Hong Kong, tunay naman silang registered voters, beripikado sa database natin sa OFOV," Lim said.

As of April 19, 95,547 registered overseas voters have already cast their votes in various diplomatic posts all around the world.

Around 1.3 million overseas Filipinos have registered for the 2016 polls.
