Kapamilya Spotlight: Robi Domingo’s journey to becoming a seasoned, well-loved TV presenter

With his unmistakable charm, good looks, eloquence, and innate sense of humor, there’s definitely no wonder that Robi Domingo is one of the most sought-after presenters of his generation.He’s going to enthrall us anew as the new host of<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/idolphilippines2022"> Idol Philippines</a> for its second season. But before that, let’s take a look back first on his remarkable journey as a television presenter in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature! Just like many of the local celebrities we look up to at present, Robi’s ticket to showbiz was joining the highly successful reality show <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/pbbs10">Pinoy Big Brother</a>. He was among the housemates of the Teen Edition Plus batch in 2008 and was eventually hailed as the 2nd Big Placer. The “True Blue Atenista” may have fallen short in his bid to become the Big Winner, but he’s been blessed with a slew of projects in the past 14 years.He may have tried his hand at acting through a number of teleseryes he starred in, but he has apparently shone more as a presenter. His first regular hosting stint was in the ABS-CBN music channel MYX, wherein he debuted as a VJ in 2008 and went on for years. He was then tapped to be one of the main hosts of the teen music variety show, Shout Out! in 2010.From being a mere performer as one of the cute, dashing, and talented lads of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/asap">ASAP</a>’s very own boyband Giggerboys, he went on to become one of its hosts since 2011, up to the present that it’s already called <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/asap">ASAP Natin ‘To</a>. It was also on that year when he began his hosting gig in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/pbbs10">PBB</a>, starting off with the Unlimited edition and succeeded by Teen Edition 4 (2012), All-In (2014), 737 (2015), Otso (2018), Connect (2020), and in the recently-concluded Kumunity Season 10 (2021).Robi was then tapped to be one of the backstage hosts of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/thevoiceteens2020">The Voice of the Philippines</a> in 2013 and <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/thevoicekidsseason4">The Voice Kids Philippines.</a> In 2014, he joined Iza Calzado and Matteo Guidicelli in hosting the reality show The Biggest Loser: Doubles (2014), in which he also served as a challenge master and the social media correspondent.His dynamic tandem with Alex Gonzaga was chosen to be the presenters of reality dance competition <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/dancekids">Dance Kids</a> in 2015 and of reality entertainment competition program <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/icandothat">I Can Do That</a> in 2017.In 2018, he and Alex were joined by Kim Chiu and Melai Cantiveros in following the stories and journeys of Filipino dreamers in the Kapamilya program Star Hunt: The Grand Audition Show. It was also on that same year when he was tapped to be one of the hosts of the reality talent competition <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/thekidschoice">The Kids Choice</a>, in which a panel of celebrity child stars, dubbed “The Just Kids League,” were would be the ones to critique the talent presented by family contestants called “Fam-bato”.From hosting reality programs, he went on to become a travel show presenter in the variety-reality program Aja! Aja! Tayo Sa Jeju, alongside Donny Pangilinan, Kristel Fulgar, and Shine Kuk. It was mostly shot in Jeju Island, South Korea.And beginning this coming June 25 and 26, we’re going to see Robi as the new presenter of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/idolphilippines2022">Idol Philippines</a> for its second season!
