Tears and good vibes indeed filled the studio, and perhaps even the homes of madlang people watching from other parts of the world, as well-loved host Vhong Navarro made his much-awaited return on It’s Showtime after almost four months of being absent on the show due to personal circumstances that he had to face.

Usually, the noontime program opens with the whole ensemble singing the lively It’s Showtime anthem with the madlang people. The January 16 episode commenced differently as the hosts, led by Vice Ganda, started by discussing the meaning of friendship for them and giving samples of their ultimate favorite songs about friendship. Among those are “Umbrella” by Rihanna, which was sung by the girls, and “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars, which was sung by the guys. The whole fam then went on to have a song and dance performance of The Moffatts’ “I’ll Be There For You” before the Unkabogable Star prompted the entrance of Vhong.

Just like some of his avid fans who were watching in the studio, the 46-year-old multi-faceted artist wasn’t able to contain his emotions as he stepped on the It’s Showtime stage anew. His co-hosts welcomed him with huge and warm embraces, then continued singing “I’ll Be There For You” as Vhong wasn’t able to still gather his thoughts and say anything.

As much as he didn’t want to cry, he imparted that he wasn’t able to hold back his tears upon seeing his co-hosts and the madlang people, who he hadn’t seen for quite some time, and feeling the amount of unconditional love they have for him.

Then he continued, “Hindi kasi ako nanood ng Showtime noong nasa loob ako.

Vice revealed that Vhong was actually anxious to go back because of what happened to him, but he always reminded him that there’s a lot of people waiting for him to return, especially his fans and solid It’s Showtimers, based on the messages that he had read on social media. And that, arguably, was enough for Vhong to somehow regain his confidence and self-esteem.

The Streetboys member then imparted the realizations he had during his detention, as well as the sad stories he witnessed through his fellow detainees, which further strengthened his faith in God. Besides, he also held on to the unwavering love and support of his wife Tanya Bautista, his kids, his friends and loved ones, and those people who prayed for and helped him in their own ways, in order to overcome that ordeal.

Each member of the It’s Showtime family also delivered their heartwarming and tear-jerking messages to him, even the new ones who are looking forward to bond with him now that he’s finally back. Aside from providing comic relief, Vice also expressed how they admire his humility, faith, understanding, and patience after what he went through.

Vhong then expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped him – from the friends who helped in paying his bail and his legal team, to his beloved family who relentlessly took care of her, especially his wife Tanya, who he regarded as his “superhero”.

They capped off the touching yet amusing opening segment by finally singing the It’s Showtime theme song together with the madlang people in the studio.

And they’re not the ones who are happy and ecstatic about his return, but our beloved Kapamilya netizens, too! In fact, “Vhong” has been in the top trending topics in Twitter Philippines even hours after the January 16 episode got finished. Below are some of the rave tweets from Kapamilya Twittizens that we’ve spotted, expressing their unwavering love and support for the comedian-host:
