Thought-provoking, encouraging “real-talk” moments of Vice Ganda on It’s Showtime

In the past 14 years of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itshowtime">It’s Showtime</a>, there’s definitely no doubt that Vice Ganda has never failed to amuse us with her unmistakable wit and comedic chops. But apart from her formidable flair in making the madlang people happy together with her co-hosts, she also amazes us with her cleverness and wisdom, which she’s able to exhibit through the sensible remarks and nuggets of wisdom that she deliberately utters during the show.Avid viewers of the noontime program could surely recall that it once had a segment dedicated to her, entitled “AdVice Ganda,” through which she’s able to impart pieces of advice to the madlang people as her then alter ego “Madam Bertud.” It might have gone defunct, but that didn’t stop her from inspiring us with her random real-talk moments, such as the ones we collated in this Kapamilya Update feature.<div style="text-align:center"><iframe allow="autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="476" scrolling="no" src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FABSCBNnetwork%2Fvideos%2F296471723052195%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=476&amp;t=0" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" width="476"></iframe></div>As a <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/tawagngtanghalan">Tawag ng Tanghalan </a>contestant bared that he’s not really keen in entering a romantic relationship until he scores a job that will give him stable income, the Unkabogable Star expressed her strong agreement to him, stating, “Kung wala kang pera, huwag kang mag-jowa.” While everyone has the freedom to love, not all of us are capable of getting in relationship, especially when we can’t provide our needs, more so of your significant other. She further stressed, “relationship is not just landian, it’s also a responsibility that you must take care of.”Hearing the story of another TNT contestant about not being chosen by the woman he likes, Vice once again stirred us with her statement, especially those who figured in that situation. When asked by co-host Amy Perez if those rejecters deserve to be given a second chance, she conveyed, “Darating ang pagkakataon na ‘yong mga hindi pumili sa’yo o ipinagpalit ka, makakausad ka. At may mga oras na ‘yang ganyang mga pangyayari, isasayaw mo na lang na parang wala na.”In another episode of TNT, she subtly called out those rude persons who are said to be “wrong timing,” especially when it comes to breaking up. She couldn’t hold her frustration towards those who choose to call it quits with their partners during special occasions, such as birthdays, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, graduations, and Christmas Day, as well as crucial days like examinations and thesis defense, as she knows how extra painful would it be to the person who’s going to be left behind. So, she reminded everyone to take into consideration how this upsetting move will impact your partner.Aside from love, she also offered sound pieces of advice about family matters. In one instance, she talked about people who tend to only acknowledge their relatives once they’ve already gone far in life. She shared her and her siblings own experience from their kin, who used to mock them because of being gay before she rose to stardom and they began to live a more comfortable life. Thus, she advised everyone to turn those ridicules and belittlement into motivations for them to prove and better themselves and show the naysayers that they can be more than what they thought them to be.She then went on to tackle what seems to be the common scenario among breadwinners, who are inclined to give everything they have to their loved ones, to the point that there’s nothing left anymore to themselves. It was prompted by her conversation with a Showtime Sexy Babe contestant, who she advised, “It’s very admirable na you’re always willing to give and share, but be smart, ha? Make sure may naiipon ka for yourself kasi darating ang panahon na ang tanging maaasahan mo lang ay ikaw. At masakit kapag dumating ang araw na ‘yon, hindi mo rin maasahan ‘yong sarili mo dahil inasahan ka na ng iba.”Since we cannot be fine all of the time, Vice reminded us that it’s not a sign of weakness or cowardice if we admit that we are not okay, saying, “It’s very okay to be not okay because you are human. You were born not to be okay all the time.” She went on to revisit one of her heart-to-heart talks with her co-host and anak-anakan Ryan Bang, in which he advised him to rise up and choose to learn from his setbacks instead of dwelling in and letting himself be drowned by his negative emotions.An Isip Bata contestant named Ruel also couldn’t help himself from getting emotional as Vice apparently felt and voiced out the enduring exhaustion that he feels. While physical tiredness is already tough, what makes the fight extra challenging and crippling is the mental battle that we also need to confront and conquer. Thus, she reminded everyone how physical rest is as important as mental and emotional rest.“Ang pahinga ng katawan ay kasinghalaga ng pahinga rin ng isip. ‘Yong mental health natin ngayon, kailangan nating alagaan dahil sa dami ng nangyayari, sa gulo ng paligid, at sa ingay ng napakarami. Kapag ‘yan ay pumasok at hindi mo nakontrol sa isip mo, nakakapagod,” she commented.And lastly, Vice obviously got appalled after hearing from a 19-year-old Rampanalo player that he’s already contented with the status of his family despite being impoverished. This prompted her to utter, “hindi tama ‘yong sinasabi nating okay naman maging mahirap,” and encouraged everyone to change that derailing mindset. As she enumerated some of the valid reasons that make most Filipinos accept their poorness, she went on to ask, “pero kung may pagkakataong maging mayaman, ayaw mo ba ‘yon?”She advised him, “Maling mentality ‘yan na mahalin natin ang pagiging mahirap dahil hindi. Maraming pagkakataon sa buhay natin na hirap na hirap tayo dahil sa kondisyon ng ating buhay.
