<p>Excitement is in the air as the clock ticks down to the grand &quot;Kinseyyy&quot; anniversary special of Kapamilya noontime program “<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>It&#x27;s Showtime</u></strong></em></a>.” This year, all eyes are on the stage, as we all wonder who will rise to claim the title of the 15th &#x27;Magpasikat&#x27; champions.</p><p>Since its first anniversary in 2010, &quot;<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>It&#x27;s Showtime</u></strong></em></a>&quot; has been captivating the <em>madlang people</em> with unforgettable performances via &quot;Magpasikat,&quot; an annual talent competition among its hosts, who are split into different teams each year.</p><p>Each champion has not only entertained but also inspired, with unique stories and creative expressions that resonate with the audience. So, let’s rewind and relive the magic of the past &quot;Magpasikat&quot; winners from 2010 to 2023 that have set the bar high for the ultimate showdown we’re about to witness!</p><div> </div><div><strong>2010&#x27;s Iconic Rock Ensemble</strong></div><p>The inaugural “Magpasikat” champion was none other than rock &#x27;n roll duo Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz. They lit up the stage with an act titled &quot;Song Niya, Sing Mo,&quot; showcasing their vocal versatility and charisma as front men of OPM bands Itchyworms and Rocksteddy, respectively. Joined by an impressive lineup of OPM favorites, including Yeng Constantino, Tutti Caringal of 6CycleMind, Marc Abaya of Kjwan, and Kean Cipriano, this powerhouse ensemble dubbed themselves the &quot;Rock and Rollers Vocalisters.&quot; Teddy took it up a notch with his spot-on impersonation of rock icon Bamboo.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2011&#x27;s Splashing Diva </strong></div><p>Anne Curtis brought the house down in 2011 with her breathtaking aerial silk and pole dancing performance. She gracefully spun and soared through the air with stunning acrobatics while singing out Adele’s emotional ballad “Someone Like You,” even delivering the song while suspended upside-down. For a dramatic finish, Anne plunged into a large container of water, and with only her neck above the surface, passionately belted out the final notes of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.”</p><div> </div><div><strong>2012&#x27;s Triple Treat</strong></div><p>In 2012, the spotlight illuminated three extraordinary groups as winners. Vhong Navarro and Billy Crawford had a futuristic-themed presentation, showcasing their impressive dance skills, and integrating light tricks to enhance their act.</p><p>Meanwhile, Karylle and Anne enchanted viewers with a circus-themed display that embodied the elements of nature. Their prod beautifully highlighted fire, wind, earth, and water, creating an awe-inspiring visual experience.</p><p>Jugs and Teddy energized the crowd with a playful rendition of that year’s viral hit, &quot;Gangnam Style&quot; by famous South Korean rapper, Psy. They were joined by actress Cristine Reyes and then-child star Bugoy Cariño on stage.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2013&#x27;s Unexpected Twist </strong></div><p>Who could forget the mind-boggling &quot;Magpasikat 2013&quot; performance of Karylle, Jugs, and Teddy where they quite literally flipped the viewers’ expectations? Their performance started as a seemingly chaotic number with lyrics that sounded like complete babble and a messy stage setup that left everyone puzzled. But the real magic happened when their act was played in reverse, revealing that they had performed the &quot;<a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/itsshowtime" target="_blank"><em><strong><u>It&#x27;s Showtime</u></strong></em></a>&quot; theme song backwards.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2014&#x27;s Variety Show Madness</strong></div><p>Team TBJ—Teddy, Billy, and Jugs—took creativity to the next level with their very own noontime variety show spoof. Complete with game show segments, commercials, and even a theme song, they were a one-stop shop of hilarity and entertainment. As a cherry on top, they even had JaDine, James Reid and Nadine Lustre, as special guests, alongside a lucky studio audience member who went home with ₱90,000!</p><div> </div><div><strong>2015&#x27;s Optical Illusion Spectacle</strong></div><p>The team of Vice Ganda, Jugs, and Teddy wowed audiences with a prod number that infused optical illusions with music. They composed a song, &quot;Kapit Lang,&quot; which they performed accompanied by a music video featuring a collection of mesmerizing visual tricks. Adding to the excitement, Coco Martin, JaDine, and the late director Wenn Deramas made special appearances.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2016&#x27;s Heart-Stopping Heights</strong></div><p>Remember Anne’s jaw-dropping, heart-pounding stunt in 2016? Team AJA, made up of Anne, Joey Marquez, and Amy Perez, took daring to new heights—literally! Anne, known for her fearless approach to “Magpasikat”, delivered another <em>buwis-buhay act,</em> performing suspended from the side of a building.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2017&#x27;s Mirror Moment</strong></div><p>Vhong led an unforgettable number in 2017, joined by some GirlTrends and Hashtags members. Their entry opened with a set designed to feature mirrors on the front, right, and left sides of Vhong, who was dressed in a futuristic outfit. As he dazzled the audience with his dance moves, his reflections followed each step, creating a mesmerizing visual effect.</p><p>As the performance progressed, the deeper message of isolation and loneliness emerged. Yet, amidst the somber undertones, the act also conveyed a powerful message of hope, reminding everyone that they are never truly alone.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2018&#x27;s Enchanting Tale of an &#x27;Ipad&#x27;</strong></div><p>In a performance that felt like a theatrical masterpiece, Team Jhong and Karylle took the “Magpasikat 2018” stage by storm with a musical act about the unique love between a caterpillar (higad) and a cockroach (ipis) as they navigated the challenges of parenthood with their child, <em>Ipad</em>. The beautiful narrative carried a poignant message of love and self-acceptance.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2019&#x27;s Celebration of Beauty </strong></div><p>In “Magpasikat” 2019, Vice Ganda inspired everyone with his sincere gesture of removing his wig in support of those suffering from alopecia. The whole act highlighted the importance of embracing one’s true self and showed that confidence and beauty come from within.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2020’s Tribute to Pandemic Heroes </strong></div><p>In 2020, &quot;Magpasikat&quot; took on a poignant tone as it unfolded against the backdrop of a global pandemic. In a year filled with challenges, all groups, who were all celebrated as winners in their own right, showcased the strength and resilience of the Filipino spirit.</p><p>Jhong, Ion Perez, and Karylle’s group came up with a musical skit that depicted the struggles of everyday Filipino workers. They emphasized how people like ice cream vendors, <em>balut</em> sellers, and <em>jeepney</em> drivers navigated their challenges and found ways to rise above adversity.</p><p>Jugs, Ryan Bang, and Teddy’s battle-of-the-bands-inspired performance brought an electrifying concert atmosphere with their “Project 11: Tuloy Ang Tugtugan,” a tribute to musicians who lost gigs during the pandemic.</p><p>Meanwhile, Vhong, Amy, and Jackie Gonzaga dedicated their act to teachers, in honor of their vital role as second parents to their students during those trying times.</p><p>Completing the emotional lineup, Vice Ganda and Kim Chiu addressed the pandemic’s effects on emotional and mental well-being.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2021&#x27;s Celebration of Women Empowerment</strong></div><p>The “Magpasikat” 2021 grand champions delivered a powerful message centered around women empowerment, led by Amy, Karylle, and Kim. The all-female team honored the achievements of Filipina athletes who have proudly represented the country over the years. Amy and Kim showcased their impressive dance skills, while Karylle took the spotlight with her original song, “Kababaihan.&quot; Kim also surprised the <em>madlang people</em> with her drumming skills.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>2022&#x27;s Showcase of Filipino-Korean Friendship</strong></div><p>For Ryan, 2022 marked a significant milestone as he finally clinched his first-ever win in “Magpasikat.” Partnering with Jhong, they formed Team KoPi, symbolizing the beautiful ties between Koreans and Pinoys. Their presentation showcased the rich cultures of both nations, as well as the unbreakable connection that emerged during the Korean War.</p><p>The duo paid tribute to Filipino veterans who fought valiantly in the Korean War, emphasizing the gratitude felt by the South Korean people for the sacrifices of Filipino soldiers. In recognition of this heartfelt tribute, Team KoPi donated their grand prize of Php 500,000 to the brave Filipino soldiers, a gesture that further emphasized the strong bonds of camaraderie between their two countries.</p><div> </div><div><strong>2023&#x27;s Dance and Technology Act </strong></div><p>Jhong, Kim, and Ion wowed everyone with their powerful entry for “Magpasikat” 2023. Their 17-minute performance explored the ‘dark side’ of cell phones through solo dance pieces, leading to an exhilarating parkour finale on a giant pegboard, where they climbed and swung without harnesses. And then, they left the audience with a thought-provoking question: “Gaano ka karesponsable sa paggamit ng cell phone?”</p><p>With the 15th &quot;Magpasikat&quot; just around the corner, happening from October 21 to 25, everyone’s curious to see which talented group will rise to the challenge and claim this year’s coveted title.</p><p>The Monday team is comprised of Vice, Karylle, and Ryan; followed by the Tuesday group of Ogie Alcasid, Kim, MC, and Lassy. On Wednesday, watch Vhong, Amy, Ionand first-time “Magpasikat” performer Darren Espanto. The Thursday slot belongs to Anne, Jugs, and Teddy. And on the last day, Friday, Jhong, Jackie, and Cianne Dominguez will perform.</p>
