New actors join original 'Sa Wakas' cast members in revival

Someone even made an online petition,” said creator Charissa Pammit. </p><p>This musical tells the story of the end of one relationship and the start of another. Topper is the creative type who is currently in a relationship with successful doctor, Lexi. As things go awry for the two, free-spirited Gabbi enters Topper’s life forcing him to make uncomfortable choices. </p><p>Vic Robinson and Caisa Borromeo reprise their roles in the original run as Topper and Lexi, respectively. Alternates for these roles are new cast members Pepe Herrera of TV&#x27;s &quot;Ang Probinsyano&quot; and Repertory Philippines regular Cara Barredo. </p><p>Gabbi, meanwhile, will be played by Maronne Cruz and Justine Peña. </p><p>Joining them in the ensemble are Abi Sulit, Hans Dimayuga, Laui Guico and Moira Lozada.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/04/16/13/review-sa-wakas-groundbreaking-ph-musical">Read our review of the original run here.</a></li></ul><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/entertainment/01/08/010817-sawakas2.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">The cast performs &#x27;Bawat Daan&#x27; from the musical &#x27;Sa Wakas.&#x27; <em>Photo by author</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>Featuring the music of alternative rock band Sugarfree, the musical uses “Broadway-fied” covers of songs like “Mariposa,” “Ikaw Pala,” and “Wag ka na Umiyak” as a musical backdrop for this reverse love story. </p><p>Ebe Dancel, lead singer of Sugarfree, came back from semi-retirement to write the play’s central song, “Bawat Daan,” which went on to win the Awit Awards for Song of the Year, Best Inspirational Recording, and Best Song Written for a Movie/TV/Stage Play.</p><p>“The music of Sugarfree was not only something that entertains but something you reflect on over a bottle of beer,” director Andrei Nikolas Pamintuan noted.</p><p>Apart from the new actors, several changes have been made for this new production. Some songs were removed that did not add to the narrative and replaced with new ones. </p><p>New scenes were also written to add context to some of the musical numbers.</p><p>&quot;Sa Wakas: A Pinoy Rock Musical&quot; will be staged from January 12 to February 5 at the Power Mac Spotlight Theater in Circuit Makati.
