MANILA - The search for the next Von Trapp children is on.

The producers of the Manila run of "The Sound of Music" are looking for 18 girls and boys to alternately play the roles of the six Von Trapp children: Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl.

Applicants are expected to have a good level of skill in acting, singing and dancing, and fit specific height and voice requirements.

They should also complete an online form at www.soundofmusic.com.ph, and be physically present at the pre-registration sessions on May 6 and 7 at The Theater at Solaire Lobby.

Auditions will be held in May.

"For local children to have the chance to star on stage with actors of this calibre in an international production from London's West End will be a dream come true and the chance of a lifetime. You never know where an opportunity such as this could take you!" said James Cundall, producer of "The Sound of Music" in Manila and chief executive officer of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions.

"The Sound of Music" tells the story of the fun-loving governess Maria, who changes the lives of the widowed Captain Von Trapp and his children through music.

It features unforgettable songs such as "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss," "Do-Re-Mi" and "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," among others.

The Manila run of "The Sound of Music" will start in September, with tickets available at TicketWorld.
