<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/life/04/24/group.jpg"/><figcaption>(L-R) Consul Arman Talbo, Barge Ramos, Dr. Christine Daguno-Canoy (President &amp;CEO, Neocolors), Gina Reyes (COO, Neocolors, New York), Albert Andrada, Consul General Claro Cristobal of the Philippine Consulate General in New York. <em>Troi Santos</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>NEW YORK – A collection from Albert Andrada and Barge Ramos was showcased at the New York Bridal Fashion Week 2019 early this month.</p><p>Held at Landmark on the Park last April 13, the show featuring the two Filipino designers served as the culminating event for the Tourism and Lifestyle exhibit of the Philippine Center.</p><p>Titled “Fabulous Philippines: A Perfect Wedding Exhibition,” this rare collaboration was made possible by Neocolors Productions and Advertising International Inc. </p><p>“This is really taking pride in our heritage and in the designs and creativity of Filipinos,” said Neocolors founder and CEO Christine May Daguno on the sidelines of the event. </p><p>When asked how Filipino designers can shine on the world stage, Ramos stressed the importance of returning to one’s roots.</p><p>“What I do is I always try to infuse indigenous textiles and handwoven [fabrics] in my collection. It’s something that’s very personal to me. I think this is also a trend worldwide using sustainable fashion – the value of handwoven fabrics, hand embroidery, hand painting. I think all these artisanal factors are important for Filipino designers to break into mainstream fashion,” he explained. </p><p>Andrada, whose contribution to the partnership was the “Inamorata” – a preview of what he plans to present in a San Sebastian-inspired gala in the Philippines on November 28 – also shared his thoughts on the possibility for other Filipino designers to be part of major fashion platforms.</p><p>“Right now, a lot of designers and students are being trained in the Philippines. And after they are trained, they get to work in another place where they are mentored, and their experiences [become] vast.
