New eats: Pound, Flatterie 'merge' in Greenbelt restaurant

A win for the dining public. </p><p>Pound x Flatterie at Greenbelt 3 seamlessly combines two of Foodee Global Concepts Group&#x27;s most accessible concepts into one. </p><p>While the interiors’ aesthetic leans more towards the Pound side of things (wrought iron décor, subway tiles, arched ceilings, a mostly black-and-white motif with touches of gold, wraparound seating at the bar area, etc.), Flatterie is still aptly represented with warm lighting, its trademark font in the menus and the signage, and, of course, the food. </p><p>Combining the specialties of both restaurants makes a lot of sense. Together, the restaurant serves up the American diner experience albeit in a classier setting and with a surfeit of choices. </p><p>And while the Todd English name may noticeably be missing in the marquee, rest assured that the celebrity chef is still a part of the story, as they serve up his recipes in the restaurant. </p><p>Other good things brought together were the bundles and the eternal promos of each restaurant. Flatterie has the blissful bundles that are good for one, starting at P199, which includes a selfie carbonara or aglio pasta, half a selfie classic margarita flat bread, and a foodie iced tea. Pound, on the other hand, continues with its dollar menu, now officially set at P55 per item which has milkshakes, the classic slider, a tomato cream pasta, the onion cube, and truffle ketchup fries for options. </p><p>With each restaurant serving its full menu, ordering may involve a lot of browsing, so to start you off, here are five dishes from our recent visit to Pound x Flatterie. </p><div><strong>1. Pound for Pound </strong></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/05/06/eats1.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Photo by author</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>When I’m not opting to spend big bucks on the Pound Foie Gras Burger, the Pound for Pound is my best option. In this dish, you get two sliders — the Classic with all its fixins (including delightful crispy onions), and the Crispy Chicken. While the Classic will always be a favorite for its no-frills approach to the burger slider, the Crispy Chicken should also be up there with the bestsellers. It dwarfed its partner with all the vegetables mounded on top of it, and had a crunch-tastic chicken fillet that was bigger than the bun--- a texture party in the mouth. </p><div><strong>2. P55 milkshakes </strong></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/05/06/eats2.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Photo by author</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>There are two options: the OMG Chocolate and the Betty White. Both sweet, freshly made from real ice cream, and I can’t say it enough, heaven-sent in this heat. </p><div><strong>3. Spicy Frutti di Mare </strong></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/05/06/eats3.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Photo by author</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>This linguine dish from Flatterie packs on heat from the first bite, but you never lose the taste of the sea as the battered and fried calamari and prawns nicely held their own against the spicy tomato sauce. </p><div><strong>4. Bronx Bomber Flatbread </strong></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/05/06/eats4.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Photo by author</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>Every topping on this flatbread is about umami. This umami bomb has tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, caramelized onions, parmesan cheese, and basil. Sweet and savory, a crowd pleaser for sure. </p><div><strong>5. Carbonara Flatbread </strong></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/05/06/eats5.jpg"/><figcaption><em>Photo by author</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>Ordering this was a case of table envy, as the pizza drew our eyes as it was being served to the table adjacent to us. Topped with a poached egg that you break and slather on top of the pizza like butter, this flatbread takes the best things about a carbonara (read: cream, bacon, cheese, egg) and turns it into a bite that will remind you of a beautiful breakfast. </p>
