Filipinos have gone giddy for "Steven Universe," a hit animated series airing on Cartoon Network, after it featured ube in its season 4 finale.

In the said episode, Lars Barriga, a character believed to be of Filipino descent, chose to bake an ube cake after being asked to make something that best represents him.

Ube, or purple yam, is a popular dessert in the Philippines.

After catching the reference, Pinoy fans expressed their excitement on Twitter with many saying that it's a plus for diversity in cartoons.
