Gray, 24, was one of the guests at Grit & Glam at Okada Manila Tuesday night, which gathered on one stage the reigning Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, and past winners Pia Wurtzbach and Iris Mittenaere, along with winners of the World's Strongest Man competition.

With a loyal fanbase active on social media, Gray shared she has been tagged in many photos of fellow beauty queens set to vie for the Miss Universe crown, and she has seen some of them. But for the 2016 Miss World Philippines winner, a photo can only say so much.

"In pageants naman, I think that you shouldn't put too much judgment on how a girl looks. We're so much more than what we look like in our photos. I'd love to be able to meet them and talk to them, learn about their culture, too," she said.

A particular candidate who has been brought to Gray's attention time and again, is Miss Ecuador 2018 winner Virginia Silva, who is being accused of supposedly copying the Filipina's popular look during the Binibining Pilipinas pageant in March.

"The earcuff isn't mine. Gold-colored gown isn't mine. I don't see a problem with it. I'm happy for her, she won. I know behind her is her own journey, so let's not look something like that, like a similarity in a gown. Let's just celebrate the women coming up from their countries and hoping to do good," she said.
