PH Robotics team wins big at FIRST Lego League World Championship

MANILA - The Philippine Robotics National Team has emerged victorious after bagging two coveted awards in the recent For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Lego League World Championship held in Houston, Texas in the United States.The delegation is composed of DYCI Blue Ocean&#x27;s 10 from Dr. Yanga&#x27;s College (12-17 age bracket), which won the Champion&#x27;s Award Finalist, and CYLLO from De La Salle Zobel (6-12 age bracket), which bagged the Explore and Discover Award.<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/05/13/20190518-robotics1.jpg"/><figcaption>The Philippine Robotics National Team (DYCI Blue Ocean’s 10 from Dr. Yanga’s College, Inc.) with Ms. Mylene Abiva of FELTA Multi-Media (leftmost) at the FIRST Lego League World Championship in Houston, Texas, USA. Anne Geline Doneth Dela Rama, Paul Jaren Perez and Lara Monique Narciso. Photo courtesy of FELTA</figcaption></figure></div>Meanwhile, Team CYLLO won the award for the challenge &quot;MISSION MOON.&quot; Their project aims to solve the problem of supplying enough food and oxygen to astronauts on the moon by creating a robot that can sustain the life of cyanobacteria. The team bested 43 countries.The team is composed of Zoie Francesca Aldave, Chito Salunga Roxas Jr., Franc Andre Dimatatac, Eduardo Matteo Valdez, Emmanuel Jace Savellano, and Robert Philip Lim, led by head coach Heinz Elorde and assistant coach Genevieve Pillar.The FIRST Championship brought together tens of thousands of students from around the world who participated in the K to 12 Robotics program.The Philippine Robotics National Team is set to compete again at the FLL European Open Championship in Izmir, Turkey from May 20 to 27, 2019.
