MANILA – The new show of Claude Tayag, one of the country’s best-known chefs, will premiere this weekend.

“Chasing Flavors” is set to air its first episode on Lifestyle TV (SkyCable channel 52) on Saturday, June 3, at 9 p.m.

It will also be shown on Sundays at 12:30 p.m., Mondays at 2 a.m., Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

In “Chasing Flavors,” Tayag probes the origins of the Philippines’ iconic dishes from region to region, attempting to answer what makes each of them unique and outstanding in its own right.

Some of the featured dishes include adobo, paksiw, sinigang, kilaw and sisig, pancit, lechon, cured meats, stews, inihaw, salted dried fish, gata, gulay, panghimagas, and rice.

Broadcast journalist Ces Drilon joins “Chasing Flavors” as its executive producer, making this her first foray into the lifestyle, culinary and heritage genre.

“The show is a fascinating look into the origin and evolution of our most well-loved dishes. For instance, it explores the possibility that our humble adobong pusit may have influenced the iconic paella en su tinta of Spain. It is also a joy to work with Claude Tayag and make culinary discoveries with him,” Drilon said.

Tayag has helped put Filipino food in the spotlight through Bale Dutung (Wooden House), his abode-turned-restaurant in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The self-taught culinary expert is also an accomplished painter, sculptor, furniture designer, and food and travel writer.
