MANILA – Makeup mogul Jeffree Star has called out a vlogger for allegedly copying his video series.

Star ranted on Instagram Stories that a “vlogger who is not known in America” stole the idea of his “Approved” series which, he revealed, is copyrighted in the United States.

“Girl, that’s been my thing for two years now. It’s trademarked. It’s on merch (merchandise), don’t try me,” said the well-known vlogger, who is the founder of Jeffree Star Cosmetics.

“Sometimes I feel like people do that stuff on purpose. Like let me use Jeffree’s thing and cause a stir about it and I’ll get a lot more viewers and subscribers. I’m like, I’m not even going to mention your name,” he added in the video, which has since been reposted by fans online.

Filipina vlogger Michelle Dy eventually owned up to it, saying in a Twitter post that she recently released two videos called the “MD Approved New Series.”

She explained that her videos were only “inspired” by Star, adding that she didn’t know that the “Jeffrey Star Approved” series was copyrighted in the US.

“I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to Jeffree Star if in any way or another, I may have violated your rights from the use of your trademark,” Dy said.

She also assured Star that her two “MD Approved” videos have been deleted from her YouTube channel.

“Rest assured that it will not happen again. Again, I am sorry,” she said.
