Emily Bautista is Kim in 'Miss Saigon' US tour

<p>MANILA – Another Filipina is playing the lead role in “Miss Saigon.”</p><p>Emily Bautista is set to portray Kim, a 17-year-old Vietnamese girl who is forced to work in a brothel, in the North American tour of “Miss Saigon” which kicks off next month.</p><p>She follows in the footsteps of Lea Salonga and Eva Noblezada, who performed as Kim in 1989 and 2014, respectively.</p><p>Broadway.com hosted a conversation among Bautista, Salonga, and Noblezada, highlights of which were <a href="https://www.broadway.com/buzz/192900/exclusive-video-lea-salonga-eva-noblezada-welcome-tour-star-emily-bautista-to-the-miss-saigon-family/" target="_blank">published</a> last August 1.</p><p>On Instagram, Bautista expressed her happiness over her new role as she posted a photo of her with Salonga and Noblezada.</p><p>“I can’t begin to express how grateful and honored I am to be taking this incredibly relevant and beautiful story out on the road,” she wrote. “Biggest thank you to everyone who made this day possible and has supported me thus far.”</p><p>“Forever thankful for your love and support and big thank you to artists like Eva Noblezada and Lea Salonga for being the biggest inspirations to girls like me and so many more,” she continued. “Thank you for your words of wisdom and for being the incredibly talented bad ass models you are.”</p><p>“So excited to meet the cast and get this journey started.
