Model Karen Bordador was arrested over the weekend in a buy-bust operation. She is accused of selling drugs, particularly ecstasy. Southern Police District

MANILA - Local FM station Monster RX 93.1 has released a statement on Wednesday to condemn the use of illegal drugs following the arrest of model-radio host Karen Bordador.

"RX 93.1 is shocked by the recent events concerning our DJ, Karen Bordador, who was implicated in a drug-related arrest. Karen showed no indication in the workplace of any involvement with prohibited substances. Police authorities have filed charges against Ms. Bordador, and we trust that the ongoing investigation will bring out the truth," a statement, released on Facebook, read.

"The station strongly condemns the use of illegal substances, and does not condone the use of drugs by any of our staff. Over several decades, RX 93.1 has built a reputation as a responsible, multi-awarded broadcast institution. We thank our listeners for their loyalty, and we assure the public that we will continue to be worthy of its trust and support."

Bordador and her boyfriend, Emilio Lim, were both taken into custody over the weekend for possession of ecstasy, marijuana, and marijuana oil worth P3 million.

The arresting officers have confirmed that some of the drugs were seized directly from Bordador, after the radio host claimed that she was just visiting her boyfriend when the buy-bust operation ensued.

"For the three weeks surveillance, we cannot say that she was directly involved, but recovered from her possession are some ecstasy during the progress operation that was done by our operatives," National Capital Region Police Office spokesperson Chief Inspector Kimberly Molitas told ANC.

Bordador and Lim remain detained at the Southern Police District (SPD) headquarters in Taguig City as of Wednesday afternoon. A report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, citing SPD officers, said that the two tested positive for drug use after giving urine samples.

The report, however, furthered that Bordador refused to sign a form indicating her consent for the drug test. According to an SPD official, the court will decide the implications of Bordador's refusal.

The police are ready to file the formal charges against Bordador and Lim after they have received the report from their crime laboratory confirming that they have indeed seized ecstasy and marijuana from the site.

Aside from her job as a radio host and a model, Bordador is also known as a blogger and an entrepreneur. She was included in this year's FHM "100 Sexiest Women" list, and was a former contestant on the romantic reality show, "I Do."
