MANILA – Socialite and TV host Tim Yap on Wednesday has broken his silence following allegations that he is involved in illegal drug operations.

Quoting an interview with radio station DZBB, the entertainment website Pep reported that Yap cried foul over being tagged as a supplier of party drugs.

“Hindi po porke’t nandoon ako sa party scene, hindi porke’t nasa bars ako at sa events, ako po’y nagsu-supply. Hindi po totoo ito (I’m at the party scene and I’m at bars and events, but that doesn’t mean I’m supplying drugs. That’s not true),” said Yap, who co-owns high-end bars in Metro Manila such as Valkyrie, Aracama, Prive and Gramercy.

“For me, napakasakit, napaka-unfair (It’s painful, it’s unfair),” he added.

Yap went on to call the allegations “below the belt,” with the socialite maintaining that he has no plans of going into hiding because “wala naman silang makikita” (they won’t find anything).

“It’s something that hindi ko inakalang ever maa-attach sa pangalan ko (It’s something I never thought would be attached to my name),” he said.

He also stressed that he is “an active and fit person,” denying rumors that he is using drugs.

Meanwhile, Yap said he is willing to cooperate with authorities amid the recent crackdown against illegal drugs in the country.
