</figcaption></figure></div><p><strong>(UPDATED)</strong> A Filipino-American beauty queen is the new Miss USA.</p><p>R&#x27;Bonney Gabriel of Texas was crowned Miss USA 2022 on October 3 in Reno, Nevada, beating 50 other candidates. </p><p>She will represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant in January 2023, and will compete with the likes of the Philippines&#x27; Celeste Cortesi.</p><p>Aside from the Miss USA title, Gabriel also won Best in Costume.</p><blockquote class="instagram-media" about addressing the impacts of climate change by judge Soo Yeon Lee.</p><p>She stressed the importance of incorporating sustainability into one&#x27;s work and everyday life, citing what she has been doing as a fashion designer. </p><p>&quot;I think there are ways we can implement addressing climate change within our careers or our lifestyle. It&#x27;s as easy as adding a recycle bin to your house -- everybody can do that -- or being creative... you can also implement it in your job,&quot; she said. </p><p>&quot;I am a fashion designer, I actually made the outfit I&#x27;m wearing, and I upcycle pieces and recycle different clothing to be more sustainable in my industry because I feel like it&#x27;s my duty... We can all look for ways in our certain industries, or in our homes, to be sustainable as well,&quot; she ended.</p><p>The rest of the Top 5 in Miss USA 2022 included representatives from North
