<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/lifestyle/10/6/diamond-100716.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Christine Joy Picardal (center) becomes only the second winner of the Miss Diamond of the World pageant. <em>Photo from the pageant&#x27;s Facebook page</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA - A Filipina was crowned as this year&#x27;s Miss Diamond of the World in a pageant held at the Sofitel Hotel in Algeria last Thursday.</p><p>Christine Joy Picardal bested 29 other representatives from countries around the world, including those from Romania, Russia, and Germany. </p><p>The Philippines became the second winner in the history of the pageant, which began in 2015. </p><p>Miss Diamond of the World is billed as the first international beauty contest in Algeria. </p><p>Reacting to her win, Picardal wrote on her Facebook page: &quot;It is not really the crown that infatuates me now, it is the warmth and the love I&#x27;ve been receiving from my co-candidates.&quot; </p><p>Picardal, who has joined several local pageants in the past, appeared as a bit player in several ABS-CBN shows, such as the superhero series &quot;Super D&quot; and the weekend episodic fantaserye &quot;Wansapanataym.&quot; </p>
