MANILA – Every pair of Zarah Juan shoes has a story to tell.

Juan has been collaborating with the Bagobo-Tagabawa community to come up with colorful mules, which were the most wanted items at the recently concluded Arte Fino fair.

She will open her very own shop at Amorsolo Street in Makati City starting on Wednesday, October 11.

According to Juan, the patterns in each of her shoes depict prayers and petitions from the Bagobo-Tagabawa community.

“When they want to pray or they want to say something, they usually bead it,” she explained.

“For those people who are supporting us and using our products… they are using a work of art. If you’d notice, there are no two designs that are alike,” she added.

“By using the products, they are actually becoming storytellers of who we are as Filipinos.”
