MANILA – Fans of model and YouTube sensation Sebastian Castro and former “TV Patrol” reporter Ryan Chua were shocked after learning that the two recently ended their four-year relationship.

In an Instagram post early this month, Castro referred to his relationship with Chua as “my only serious one,” adding that he chooses to remember “the best parts of it.”

In an exclusive interview with the entertainment website Push published on Wednesday, Castro revealed the reason behind his breakup with Chua.

“Long distance ang number one reason. Kasi siyempre [nasa] Beijing siya, ako rito sa Maynila,” he said of Chua, who is currently based in China. “It’s just not realistic.”

According to Castro, he and Chua decided to call it quits last September 22.

The model and newbie actor has nothing but good words for his ex-boyfriend, saying their relationship allowed them to “unapologetically be ourselves.”

“I didn’t have serious relationships most of my life, not with girls or not even with men,” said Castro, who has been tapped as an endorser of the world’s largest gay social media app, Blued. “Because all of the people I’ve met were closeted and it was never a mature relationship in my opinion.”

“But with Ryan, for four years, we chose to come out, we chose to unapologetically be ourselves, share our lives in social media,” he added.

Castro stars in Adolf Alix’s gay-themed film “4 Days,” which will open in cinemas on October 18.
