CEBU CITY -- There’s something new in Cebu and it’s not related to lechon, beaches or whale sharks. Hear, hear folks! The metro now has a pyramid smack in the middle!

Complete with glass panels like the one in the world-famous Louvre in Paris, The Pyramid gives its patrons a taste of the Parisian life at the IT Park in Lahug, Cebu City.

The menu is definitely mixed -- and not really French. There’s the usual pizza, pasta and burger for teenagers; grilled ribs, crispy pata and ostrich steak for family eat-outs; wine and cheese for couples; and coffee or margarita for the entire gang.

Take note, by the way, that their rib slabs come all the way from Spain and the pork thigh for the crispy pata is not frozen but cooked fresh. They are also planning to source from farms in the province for fresh farm-to-table dishes in the next few months.

And on Winesdays (yep, that’s right), a connoisseur gives customers a lesson on the wines of a chosen region. They have 72 selections from different parts of the world and they have a cellar that can keep more than a thousand bottles.

Apart from the wine, The Pyramid also have craft beers, which are a big hit especially on karaoke nights. This is the Philippines and we can have karaoke outside the ‘Louvre’! Once a week, The Pyramid has crates set up outside with a microphone that’s open for all in front.

On most nights, don’t hesitate to go inside and ask for a table—even if you think they’re full because a number of people are standing outside. This roomy triangle can accommodate up to 300 people. And oh, most of the people outside are standing with their phones. Yes, for selfies.
