MANILA — YouTube star Bretman Rock on Thursday asked fans to respect his privacy as he revealed mourning the death of his father.

The Philippines-born beauty vlogger, who moved to Hawaii when he was 8, was reported to be back in his home country early this week.

In tweets on Thursday, he shared that the reason for his visit was for the wake of his father. He lamented the lack of sensitivity of some fans who would show up to his family’s home despite the circumstance.

“Can people just let me be sad for once… I’m here in the Philippines for my dad who just passed. Don’t come to my house and ask me for pictures. So many people showed up to my dad’s funeral uninvited and started taking pics of my dad and my family. Like, why? It’s common sense,” he wrote.

Rock went on: “I just don’t understand why people think it’s okay to ask me for pictures when my eyes are literally swollen from crying. How [are] you gonna say, ‘Condolences , can we take a picture?’”

Rock first revealed that his father was in critical condition on November 6, when a fan expressed concern over his absence from social media.

“I’m just kind of taken aback and taking time for myself and family,” he said at the time.

The death of his father came after a recent career milestone for Rock, who was named Beauty Influencer of 2019 by E! People’s Choice Awards early this month.
