The price ranges from P250 up to P650 depending on its size and kind of wood. The idea started with their warden who wanted to make their facility known again as a guitar-making jail after this kind of program stopped five years ago.&quot;Lapu-Lapu City is the guitar capital, and the inmates here are experts in making this so I need to bring this program back,&quot; said jail warden Supt. Jessie Calumpang.The City Jail personnel said orders are coming in bulk, as a lot of those who know about the program want to give the handmade Ukulele as gifts.&quot;We are happy to be able to give the joy of music this Christmas while we also earn,&quot; said an inmate. The money earned goes directly to the detainees.Aside from Ukulele​, the inmates also make handicraft products such as picture frames, miniature houses and coin banks. Parols made out of recycled materials are also on sale for those who still want to decorate for the coming holidays.Meanwhile, &quot;Santa cops&quot; in Lapu-Lapu are going around the city wearing Santa Claus hats, buying gifts for children and senior citizens with their own money.This week, they sung Christmas songs for the elderly, who received goods for Noche Buena.
