MANILA - A businessman recommended acupuncture to President Rodrigo Duterte to relieve him of his recurring headaches.

The president has missed several events and meetings due to migraine.

During a dinner hosted for members of The Wallace Business Forum in Malacanang on Monday night, a businessman suggested to the president acupuncture treatment for his headaches.

"I pity you with your headaches but I am just recommending it to you because I studied acupuncture. I think acupuncture can stop your headache. They can stop the nerve pain," the businessman said.

"I want to be cured. But not to be cured....I cannot turn my head anymore. I can save time by just looking at the lady there," the president said in jest.

The president said he had already been advised to consider acupuncture but has not tried it himself.

In February, months before he became president, Duterte skipped a forum of doctors after suffering from migraine.

Last November, he missed an interview with TV host-actress Kris Aquino after allegedly suffering from migraine.
