<figure class="op-social"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="350" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2GUDTnHzjjk" width="510"></iframe></figure>From writing non-fiction books and adult fiction, Jennifer Niven decided to dip into the young adult genre after her literary agent of 15 years passed away in 2013.And for her, writing the young adult novel entitled &quot;All the Bright Places,&quot; was more than just trying out something new; it was an eye-opener, &quot;an overwhelming, wonderful experience.&quot;The novel follows the lives of Finch and Violet, whose lives were entangled from the moment they met on the ledge of the bell tower at school, that left the entire school wondering who saved whom.Telling a story set in high school was no easy feat, admitted Niven, especially as she drew from a personal story, but she took the plunge to expose some truths she believes should be talked about.She revealed that when the book first came out, there were some parents who said they wish she didn&#x27;t write a book like this because they wish to shelter their teenage children from being exposed to the issues the book tackles.But she knew that there are also children feeling hurt and alone in their struggles who has found solace in the characters of her book.&quot;I feel like I’m all alone. I’m struggling; I don’t know what’s happening and why I feel this way. And your book, Finch and Violet, made me feel like I’m not alone,&quot; are just some of the remarks she got from readers.&quot;It’s so sad that so many people feel that way, but it’s the most amazing feedback because I feel that it’s doing good, the book is doing good, and helping start conversations that need to be started,&quot; said Niven.Niven is currently in the Philippines to sign copies of &quot;All the Bright Places&quot; for her fans.Catch her on May 28, 1PM at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu, and on May 29, 2PM at the 2L Mega Atrium of SM Megamall.
